The undefeated former Olympian Floyd Mayweather Jr entered this fight with a perfect boxing record of 23-0-0 (17 knockouts) and at that time, in 2000, he was the Wbc super-Fw champion; in his previous three bouts he had won over Justin Juuko, Carlos Gerena and Gregorio Vargas.
