Review by AllTheBestFights.com: 2000-10-21, entertaining fight thanks to some nice exchanges and a high pace: Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Emanuel Augustus Burton is one of the best boxing fights of 2000 and it gets four stars (thanks to “Mattsnow” who recommended this bout to us).The undefeated former Olympian Floyd Mayweather Jr entered this fight with a perfect boxing record of 23-0-0 (17 knockouts) and at that time, in 2000, he was the Wbc super-Fw champion; in his previous three bouts he had won over Justin Juuko, Carlos Gerena and Gregorio Vargas.
His opponent, Emanuel Augustus Burton, had an official record of 22-16-4 (10 knockouts) and he had already fought three times in 2000 before facing Floyd: losing to Teddy Reid (4-stars fight, Emanuel Augustus Burton vs Teddy Reid) and John John Molina but then he had beat Gerald Gray. Mayweather vs Augustus was the main event of the evening; after twelve years, in 2012, Mayweather said Augustus was the toughest fighter he had faced:”I’m going to rate Emanuel Augustus first compared to all the guys that I’ve faced…He didn’t have the best record in the sport of boxing, he has never won a world title, but he came to fight.” Watch the video and rate this fight!

Review: 2001-07-13, we had rated this fight four stars but after watching it again, thanks to the comments of “Cleming81” and “mattsnow81”, we have changed our rating in five (on February 6, 2015) because Micky Ward vs Emanuel Augustus was an absolute war thanks to a tremendous pace and some amazing exchanges in which both boxers showed huge heart (in the comments you can see how we rate it round by round).
