Both undefeated, the Wba world champion Nicholas Walters entered this fight with a perfect boxing record of 25-0-0 (21 KOs=84%) and he is ranked as the No.1 featherweight in the world while his opponent, Miguel Marriaga, has an official record of 20-0-0 (18 KOs=90%) and he entered as the No.25 in the same weight class. Walters fought twice last year beating Vic Darchinyan (=Walters vs Darchinyan) and Nonito Donaire (=Donaire vs Walters) while Marriaga fought three times beating Carlos Fernando Perez Martinez in his last bout. Walters vs Marriaga is valid for the WBA Super World featherweight title just in case Marriaga wins because Walters failed to make the 126 lb weight limit. Watch the video and rate this fight!

Official highlights
Walters has the speed and instincts of Mayweather, and the heart of GGG. A special talent, here showing how deep the difference is between good and very good.
A pretty crappy weekend of boxing, but this one redeemed it!
It was a very good fight between two talented boxers with excellent and undefeated records. For being strong punchers both, they demonstrated to have a very good and sound fighting skills.
Walters is too big for this category and the 10 lbs difference they have before starting the fight was a big factor in the final result since Miguel’s punches didn’t have any effect on Walters.
However, Walters was faster and better connecting excellent punches to the body that brought down the punching power of Miguel.
Walters is fully ready for any future opponent existing in the current division and the superior too..
Sad to see one of them loosing the undefeated condition.
Most likely this was a fight for 4 starts.
Yes Walters is big for this category but i would like to see him against Lomachenko, two great champions!! If he moves up to a higher division i can see him winning world titles in the super-featherweight, lightweight and super-lightweight…but here there some very strong boxers like Terence Crawford, Matthysse. Jessie Vargas and Provodnikov!! Let’s see his next move!
Wish I could watch the whole fight… Link doesn’t work. :(
Walters stock went way down for me.
I believe this fight would have had a different outcome if it weren’t for the weight difference. Waters is a bit fabricated in terms of career.
This was his best win to date. His 2 previous were to a 122lber and a 118lber.
I too was weighting for Lamenchko Vs Waters.
Now? Nope. Pointless. Right now Waters needs to move to at least Lightweight – if not Super Lightweight. We have already seen Lamencko fight a Super Lightweight/Welterweight (a loss he shouldn’t have)
