The undefeated Keith Thurman entered this fight with a perfect boxing record of 25-0-0 (21 KOs=84%) and he is ranked as the No.4 welterweight in the world (currently the #1 in this division is Floyd Mayweather Jr); he has already fought once in 2015 beating Robert Guerrero in a bout valid for the Wba Ww belt (=Thurman vs Guerrero).
His opponent, Luis Collazo, has an official record of 36-6-0 (19 knockouts) and he entered as the No.38 in the same weight class. He suffered his last loss last year when he faced Amir Khan (=Khan vs Collazo) but he came back to win in 2015 defeating Christopher Degollado. Thurman vs Collazo is valid for the WBA World welterweight title. Watch the video and rate this fight!

That liver shot is the same one that BHop used to stop Oscar.
That is the Achilles heel for most fighters.
Good comeback from Collazo..but Thurman is a problem at 147 for sure.
Very good fight! I was suprised that Thurman didn’t press the action more in the first rounds, but he was winning these easily anyway. Then, around the 4th, I realized that Collazo was able to time his shots more and more effectively. He was the aggressor and throwing first most of the time. Then came this huge body blow by the end of the 5th by Collazo! If he had landed this shot just a little earlier in the round, we’d have probably seen one of the biggest upset in boxing in the recent years. And even in the 6th, we could see that Thurman didn’t fully recovered, but Collazo wasn’t able to land a significant power shot in that round. But anyway, this tells a lot about Thurman physical endurance and willpower.
About the cut Collazo suffered, it seemed to be in a very bad spot indeed, underneath his eyebrow almost right on the eyelid. Like Teddy said, we’re not in Collazo’s mind (and body), but we’ve seen so many guys being able to fight and sometimes to win fights with one eye, or one hand, or even one neurone left!
So what’s next for Thurman? Is it going to be Mayweather? I’m not sure. Strictly on a business standpoint, yes Thurman sold a lot of tickets for a fight vs a veteran underdog. But I think Alvarez-Mayweather would be a bigger payday for Mayweather and the whole boxing industry. There are many other big names in the WW-division Thurman could fight: Brook, Bradley, Pacquiao, Porter, etc. And one fight I would love to see, but I don’t know if it’s ever going to be possible, is against a guy like Kirkland.
How much money are they paying Teddy?
Thurman “the most athletic boxer there is” – uh – HUH? That is just F!n ridiculous to say that. So many better fighters out there – with faster reflexes and REAL power. Hate the Haymon PBC hype machine. It is like I just turned on the WWE.
I almost see Mayweather fight Thurman now.
Very easy win for him. Thurman doesn’t have fortitude.
I wonder what it would be liek for him to fighter Porter or Bradley.
He can out box them but both have the determination to win. Especially Bradely – though he is now getting a bit long in the tooth.
Dont see him finishing against Pac.
Khan – that would be a good fight.
Reasoning is Khan is faster and probably a better boxer. Has enough power so I wonder if Thurman would come forward? Especially after getting tagged. he always seems to reverse.
Brook – I would prefer Brook Vs Khan (mega fight in England). Khan has a bit of a speed advantage but Brook as the better durability.
Got it – Maidana … (:
Who would bet on?
thurman will beat khan and maidana only floyd and maybe naybe brasley can beat him in the welterweight division
I’m not sure thurman can beat Maidana especially after this performance, the argentinian is really dangerous, he almost defeats mayweather in their first bout!! It’s really strange we still don’t know the name of mayweather’s opponent on September 12th, date of his last pro fight
maidana gas out after rd8 we saw it against floyd, plus thurman did pretty good in this fight he landed way more than collazo, what else do you guys want?
I agree with most of what you said. But even though PBC puts it up like WWE and tend to exagerate things (the whole barber shop scene was quite a drama!), it stays that at 26 years old, Thurman is a brillant fighter, a young top10er who has fought many veterans in a very competitive weight division.
