Chael Sonnen entered this fight with a professional mma record of 28-15-1 (43% finishing rate) and he is ranked as the No.40 light heavyweight in the world but he won just one out of his last five bouts, against Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua in 2013 (=Shogun Rua vs Sonnen); after this bout he was defeated by Rashad Evans (=Evans vs Sonnen) and Tito Ortiz (=Ortiz vs Sonnen).

Review: 2013-03-03, fast and furious start with tremendous exchanges, two knockdowns and Silva seems to be back at Pride Fc…the first period is simply amazing (could be a candidate for Round of the Year); then the pace slows down but the end of the bout is outstanding: Silva vs Stann is definitely one of the best mma fights of 2013 (UFC Fight & ko of the Night).
