Meh…Solid performance from Spence. I’m still far more critical of ESJ than most I read around the net. Perhaps like Jordan…Mayweather spoiled us w/ just how dazzling his skills were…Pacquiao too. Spence pivoted & used his feet more tonight. But I’m still a believer that Terrence Crawford Boxes Circles around ESJ. He’s too versatile…more athletic….tall..longer reach….Pwr in both hands..switches left & right mid fight… & able to adjust in real time more quickly. At this stage I see Crawford winning a comfortable decision.
Back to this fight though…Mikey seemed sluggish in this fight. & probably due to added weight & not being able to mount an effective attack. Spence used all of his advantages well. He seemed to have good focus & discipline in his game plan. He did what he was supposed to do against a former featherweight. The KO doesn’t matter IMO bc MG is a savvy crafty fighter. & at the very top knockouts are diff to come by. There wasn’t much drama tonight but I can assume each camp accomplished their agenda.
agree with everything apart from your rating of spence..he was brilliant tonight. displayed intelligence and understanding of what was needed and what he could do. also Crawford fight will be very good and I favour Crawford but its 50 50. but spence really is the truth .
Garcia has great defense. proved it yet again but this was a defensive performance from him which really it needed to be
People expected more from Mikey. Yes, he was the underdog and most people picked Spence to win but most people also expected Mikey to be somewhat competitive, especially in the first part of the fight but Spence had him in survival mode 99% of the fight. Mikey had absolutely no clue what to do and couldn’t find a way to get past Spence jab. Mikey did a lot of talking before the fight but in the ring it seemed to be a victory for him to go the distance.
A disastrous decision by Mikey…Errol was just BETTER in every department.
Mikey didn’t even landed 100 punches, it was very embarrassing
Terrific jab Spence has.
Really just as I expected it would be when I heard the fight was made, minus the knockout. Really a no lose situation for Mikey. Maybe this will bring other welterweights to the ring with Spence now,for even bigger match ups.
What a poor showing by Garcia
Two excellent boxers in the ring but Errol’s physical advantages (reach and southpaw stance) prevailed helped, of course, for his continuous and aggressive attacks. However, fight was slow because the respect they have for each other. More than a title fight they were defending here theirs undefeated records.
