Review: 2014-08-09, epic and very exciting battle thanks to an amazing performance by two of the best boxers in the world (we would like to know how many punches they threw and landed): Katsunari Takayama vs Francisco Rodriguez Jr is a candidate for Fight of the Year 2014 and it gets five stars! Katsunari Takayama entered this fight with a professional boxing record of 27-6-0 (10 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.1 minimumweight in the world, he suffered his last defeat in 2012 when he faced Mateo Handig (via split decision), but after that bout he won the Ibf belt against Mario Rodriguez (=Rodriguez vs Takayama) and defended the title twice: against Vergilio Silvano (=Takayama vs Silvano) and Shin Ono (=Takayama vs Ono).
His opponent, the 21-year-old Francisco Rodriguez Jr (ten years younger than Takayama), has an official record of 14-2-0 (10 knockouts) and he entered as the No.4 in the same weight class, he lost his last bout in 2013 when he faced Roman Gonzalez (=Gonzalez vs Rodriguez Jr); after that bout he won three times and in his last fight he won the Wbo belt against Merlito Sabillo (=Sabillo vs Rodriguez Jr). Takayama vs Rodriguez Jr is valid for the IBF and WBO minimumweight titles. Watch the video and rate this fight!

great fight. i don’t understand the score cards. Takayama out boxed him most of the fight
Amazing fight!
I thought it was the correct decision. Two incredible athletes
awesome fight, awful scorecards
Awful scoring, those kind of judges are ruining this great sport.
I really can’t believe that this fight is rated here higher than Gamboa Crawford fight for example.Sure this was a good fight, sure they both have tremendous heart , but they were throwing arm punches throughout the whole fight , and its clear that nobody would ever get knoked out even if the fight was scheduled for 50 rounds ( unless from exhaustion).I have big respect for this website but this is redicoulous.
