Good finish for Parker, but he needs to improve. I think they’re rushing him way too much. He shouldn’t be fighting Joshua right now. I’m definitely not on AJ’s bandwagon like many people are and I see a great future for Joe. But he is still in a learning process and he is only 24, so why rush him? Yes, that uppercut was lovely but he was eating quite a lot of right hands from this 40-year old journeyman. I think he’s the most talented prospect in the HW division and I see him whipping AJ’s a*s in a year or so but not now. He could do it, but it’s a huge risk.
Yeah very true.
He was eating far too many punches from a plodder. Also he was allowed to pull his opponent off balance in a number of instances. He won’t get away with this on an opponent’s home turf. The more he fights the lower my estimation of him becomes. Too many bad habits.
Yes, but he has quite a good chin, he is durable and he fights back. AJ has never faced anyone like this. Whatever happens in their fight, it will be a big test for Joshua.
Parker’s an offensive threat, but he is open to be hit. Easily hit, in fact. He had significant trouble with Takam and anyone more heavy-handed than Haumono would have done damage in this fight. There’s a chin, evidently, yet the kid should be preserving it.
As for rushing him, Parker looks to be struggling slightly at the very first rung up from the record-padding fighters so far on his resumé. AJ, who is roughly two years his senior, is already too accomplished for him. It’s going to be a tough game of catch-up for the Kiwi, IMO, to approach Joshua’s level. Perhaps he should start with some of Joshua’s victims and see how he fares…
True. I think Parker should face some taller guy with longer reach8
Joseph’s defence is not up to par. His right hand drops and is held with no defence when he jabs. He ate far too many head shots from Himono
who has a shorter reach than Joseph. He has however improved in his being able to fight going backward, also he did not get trapped on the ropes but rightfully retreated. Boxing is a skill and is not about raw agression, it is a delicate balance of retreat and advance. I believe that Barry should show Joseph some old videos of Marciano and then compare them to a runner like Mayweather and adopt a technique in between. If he got caught by our friendly traveller with any of those shots it would be good nigh nurse!
Yeah his defence is not up to par but is anyone’s in the heavyweight division apart from maybe Ortiz. He does however have a very good chin and has never looked in trouble taking some flush shots. His offense is very good but he does need to work on his defence before Joshua
True, he ate a few shots from shorter Haumono, so he wouldn’t be able to cope with Joshua NOW.I think he should fight some taller and more durable guy with longer reach, improve his defence and then he could be ready for AJ.
Hes not bad but believe me, Anthony Joshua has far too much power and boxing skill for this guy. I really believe he will get knocked out. I think Dillian White would KO this guy and Joshua knocked him out.
Both Whyte and Parker are good and I don’t think Whyte is far better than JP. They both have a great future but right now Whyte has to recover from his injury and he is only a British level fighter after all not a world class.
AJ wont be troubled by JP IMO.
All the new generation carry fundamental problems but AJ has the least for me.
No way is JP ready for AJ. Maybe 4 fights down the line some time in 2018 maybe.
