BOXING NEWS – USA: Maidana vs Erik Morales, Guerrero vs Katsidis, Kirkland…
Golden Boy Promotions, Universum Box-Promotion and Box Latino organized a boxing event that is expected to be very spectacular, whose main event is the fight valid for the interim WBA World light welterweight title between Marcos Rene Maidana and Erik Morales. “El Chino” Maidana is one of those boxers that nobody wants to face, has a record of 29 wins (with 27 Ko) and two defeats, one against Andriy Kotelnik and the last one versus Amir Khan, but the Argentine boxer has not never lost really, since both fights (especially in Germany against Kotelnik) were very questionable decisions. I think that for “El Terrible” Morales this fight was the wrong choice, the Mexican boxer is
MMA NEWS – Strikeforce: Diaz vs Daley, Melendez vs Kawajiri – full fight card & video
The MMA event more interesting of the weekend (Saturday, April 9) is organized by Strikeforce, which main event is Nick Diaz vs Paul Daley. Diaz (24-7-0) doesn’t lost since 2007 and defends for the third time his Strikeforce welterweight title (his second defense, against Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos, is one of the best MMA fights of 2011), but the American fighter has to be careful because Daley (27-9-2) is a very dangerous opponent with 20 fights on 27 won by knockout. In the same evening there will be also the Strikeforce lightweight title at stake between Gilbert Melendez and Tatsuya Kawajiri: “El Nino” Melendez (18-2-0) is
K-1 MUAY THAI NEWS – W5 Grand Prix KO: Zambidis, Askerow, Diender, Gogokhia
The most important event of k-1 and muay thai of the week is the W5 Grand Prix KO: four man tournament (K-1 rules, 71 kg), scheduled for April 9 in Moscow. In the first semifinal we will see Mike Zambidis vs Enriko Gogokhia, while in the other semifinal Dzhabar Askerov vs William Diender. The favorite of the tournament should be Zambidis since it has already won against Askerov in 2009 and comes from the important victory versus Ali Gunyar (one of the best k-1 and muay thai fight of 2011). Attention also to Diender that has recently won against Rachid Belaini (another very nice fight), and to
K-1 MUAY THAI NEWS – Duel at the Dome: Liam Harrison vs Saenchai Sor Kingstar 2
After the beautiful fight of 2009 between Liam Harrison and Saenchai Sor Kingstar, Saturday, April 9, the two muay thai fighters will fight for the second time (Doncaster, UK). Harrison lost in the first fight by unanimous decison but it was a tight victory for Saenchai Sor Kingstar, one of the best muay thai fighter of the world, champion of: WMC and MTAA world lightweight titles, Lumpini Stadium (super flyweight, bantamweight, super featherweight and lightweight divisions), Toyota Cup tournament (2010) and also boxing champion of the PABA featherweight title.
On the same evening will fight also Wayne McKoy vs Kevin Harper, Leigh Edlin vs Kris Addis, Joe McGovan
BOXING NEWS – 3 WBC titles in Japan: Hasegawa vs Gonzalez, Nishioka vs Munoz…
Scheduled for Friday, April 8, in Japan there are 3 WBC world titles up for grabs. The main event is the fight between Hozumi Hasegawa and Jhonny Gonzalez valid for the featherweight division. Hasegawa should be the favorite because it is the holder of the title (won against Juan Carlos Burgos in 2010) and he also fights in Japan; Gonzalez, like all Mexicans is very dangerous because he has a lot of Ko in his record (41 ko on 47 wins) and he would like to repeat the feat of his countryman Fernando Montiel that
BOXING NEWS – Lemieux vs Rubio: WBC middleweight title eliminator
Tomorrow, Friday, April 7 will be an important day for the young talent David Lemieux that will face the experienced and dangerous Marco Antonio Rubio. Canadian Lemieux has already fought against difficult opponents, such as Hector Camacho Jr. or Elvin Ayala (both have lost at first round by ko!), but “El Veneno” Rubio is much more dangerous as he is a boxer with heavy punches, 42 ko on 49 victories, and he lost just against the best: Kelly Pavlik, Zaurbek Baysangurov, Kassim Ouma, Kofi Jantuah and Saul Roman. If the 22-year-old Lemieux (25-0-0 with 24 Ko) will win the fight (we think so) it means that
