Bantamweight fighter Walel ‘The Gazelle’ Watson has been released by the UFC.
After a negative record of 3 losses in a row president Dana White has decided that Watson can leave the federation.
His debut in UFC one year ago had been hopeful, with a first-round technical knockout over fellow UFC debutant Joseph Sandoval at UFC Live 6. But after that came two losses via decision (Yves Jabouin and TJ Dillashaw) and most recently, Watson was stopped by Canadian talent Mitch Gagnon at UFC 152 last month by submission (rear naked choke) in only 69 seconds. This was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Before joining the UFC fold, Watson had posted a not bad 8-2 record to begin his career.
See you soon (or not?) Gazelle!
