The top ten grossest injuries in MMA
Strikeforce announced to have canceled its November 3 event in Oklahoma City.
As we have told you in the past days (Strikeforce’s prevoius news), several injuries crippled the card: headliner Frank Mir, as well as co-headliner and middleweight champion Luke Rockhold and former Olympic wrestling silver medalist Sara McMann were forced to withdrawal.
“Due to a series of injuries, we were forced to cancel the upcoming card on November 3 but are already working to put together a stacked card in January,” Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said in the official release.
This cancellation is the second consecutive Strikeforce show to be nixed due to injury, as the promotion’s September 29 offering was deleted on just one week’s notice following lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez’s withdrawal from his headlining title defense against Pat Healy.
“While we’re disappointed with the cancellation, we are looking forward to an even bigger Strikeforce event on Showtime early next year,” stated Stephen Espinoza, Showtime Sports’ executive vice president and general manager.
