Review: 2013-11-02, great performance by both fighters and exciting finish: the second fight between Michael Chandler and Eddie Alvarez gets three stars. The undefeated Michael Chandler (12-0-0, 84% finishing rate) entered as the No.5 lightweight in the world while Eddie Alvarez (24-3-0, 87% finishing rate) entered as the No.9 (currently the #1 in this weight division is Anthony Pettis). Everyone saying chandler was robbed. He was not the first rounds was close and could have gone either way but he had two solid 10 -9 rounds I would say round 3 and 4 but Eddie had a 10-8 round last round. Straight dominance , chandler was struggling to survive that round. Chandler had a lot of takedowns but not active enough say he was robbed this is mma now wrestling you have to do more than just be on top. But was great fight by two great fighters much respect to both warriors close fight but I say alverez deserve the win
robbery, chandler is the champ!
delusional much

I feek michael chandler won that 1, but that was an amazing fight. Technique displayed thru the while entire fight, looking forward to the rematch!!
I just watched this fight first time after hearing from a bunch of people chandler was robbed. what fight were these ppl watching? I scored the first 2 rounds for eddie. he was lighting up chandler with his jabs and doing damage. all chandler did was land a couple and take him down. 4th was chandlers most decisive round he won. 5th round eddie. so by the way im looking at it this could of even been 4-1 for eddie. well deserved. so happy he won after all the sh*t bellator put him through. great fight in the end. chandler will def bounce back this wont set him back to much . was a bigger win for eddie
Usually when people talk about a robbery in a great, close fight it means that they’re biased. That said, I disagree with you about 4-1 for Alvarez. Round 1 Alvarez did land some solid jabs and had amazing footwork, but Chandler also landed some nice shots, was the aggressor and controlled the cage (something judges consider, especially when the guy moving away is the challenger) – maybe it would have been Alvarez’s round barely, but the take down was a power take down, very impressive, not some point winning take down, and then Chandler had a fairly deep rear-naked choke attempt. So round 1 I had for Chandler, and most judges would agree I think. Round 2 is probably the most disputed and closest round, and possibly what decided the fight, but I gave it to Alvarez, just barely, as the damage he inflicted on his feet was more affective than the take downs from Chandler – but a lot of MMA judges weigh take downs in different way. Round 3 I gave to Alvarez but also was somewhat close, and 4 to Chandler without question. Round 5 was all over the place, but Alvarez turned out on top and his submission attempts were deeper and much more dangerous than Chandler’s (no way was it a 10-8 round though, as someone else here absurdly claimed). So I had it 48-47 for Alvarez, same as two of the judges. Anyone saying it was a robbery is being a bit ridiculous, but I think 4-1 for Alvarez is probably a little biased on your part too :) Amazing fight, easily one of the fights of the year for MMA.
