Video CES 12 MMA post-fight press conference
The first words after his debut (Dave Batista vs Vince Lucero) have been: “I think my nerves got the best of me a little bit. He hits like a (expletive) horse. He rocked me. I couldn’t my legs under me for a while. I was just so nervous. It took me a little while to get my composure.”
In fact Batista’s fans can’t be happy about ‘The Animal’ (now Brass Body) performance. He appeared clumsy and slow, with still much rust to remove.
Anyway Dave ‘Batista’ Bautista was able to score a first round TKO after a rocky start against the veteran Vince Lucero (300 pounder and more than 40 pro fights).
After a bad beginning, Batista was able to take the punches well enough to survive and at the first opportunity got a takedown and took side control. At that point, Batista opened up with a hailstorm of punches forcing the ref stoppage despite Lucero saying he was hit repeatedly in the back of the head. After the match a quarrel started between them, but after the official results they ‘made peace’.
“I want to fight again for sure,” Bautista said. “It was a matter of getting this first one out of the way. I was just so nervous. I had so many butterflies coming out, I think it got the best of me a little bit. I’m better than I showed tonight.”
