Review: 2003-06-28, Joe Calzaghe vs Byron Mitchell gets our five stars mainly for the second round that could be appointed “round of the year”. For the thirteenth time Calzaghe defended his WBO super middleweight title against American Byron Mitchell, who had been world champion for the WBA in previous years. Mitchell is the first boxer who knockdown the “Italian Dragon” Calzaghe (he will go down also with Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr a few years later), but Calzaghe has always raised…. Review: 2003-01-25, Ricardo Mayorga vs Vernon Forrest 1 was one of the most spectacular boxing fights of 2003. Mayorga was the champion for the WBA welterweight division, but the boxer to beat was Forrest, as he was undefeated in 35 fights and he came with two wins against Shane Mosley. But in boxing, and especially against a fighter like Ricardo “El Matador” Mayorga, the result is never predictable…We are only sure that the first fight Forrest vs Mayorga, ended by TKO in the third round, was one of the most exciting of 2003 (after six months it was held the second fight and Mayorga won by majority decision). Review: 2003-11-15, the first fight between Manny Pacquiao and Marco Antonio Barrera has been (for us) the fight of the year of 2003 (while for Ring Magazine was Arturo Gatti vs Micky Ward 3). For Manny Pacquiao was the second fight in the featherweight division, he had won the first one against Serikzhan Yeshmagambetov (2003-03-15), while Barrera was fighting in this category since 2001 when he defeated Naseem Hamed. Manny Pacquiao vs Marco Antonio Barrera 1 was not valid for any world title but it was certainly one of the greatest boxing fights ever (instead their second fight, in 2007, was much less exciting). Review: 2002-11-16, Erik Morales vs Paulie Ayala was certainly one of the best boxing fights of 2002. Erik “El Terrible” Morales had just lost his first fight and the WBC featherweight title against Marco Antonio Barrera, but he chose an opponent not very easy: Paulie Ayala. For Ayala was the first fight in the featherweight division but he was one of the strongest boxers of that time, who had lost only once (against Joichiro Tatsuyoshi in Japan) but who had already won several world titles in the bantam and super bantam division. 2011 BOXING fight – Mateusz Masternak vs Ali Ismailov – full fight Video
Review: Mateusz Masternak vs Ali Ismailov was not such an exciting fight but it is very interesting to see Masternak at work, a young Polish boxer (he was born in 1987) who fights in an intelligent and technical way and has also a good power (16 Ko on 22 wins). Review: 2011-03-12, very nice fight between Miguel Angel Cotto and Ricardo Mayorga with some spectacular rounds (3rd and 7th): it is very close to get four stars. Miguel Angel Cotto entered the fight with a record of 35-2-0 while Ricardo Mayorga had a record of 29-7-1. Cotto vs Mayorga is valid for the WBA Super World light middleweight title. Watch the video!

Review: 2002-01-26, the first fight between Vernon Forrest and Shane Mosley was one of the best fights of 2002. Both boxers had the same age and also a perfect record with no defeats, 38-0-0 for Mosley e 33-0-0 for Forrest, but Vernon “The Viper” Forrest boasted a greater height (8 cm). Vernon Forrest vs Shane Mosley 1 was valid for the WBC welterweight title, won by “Sugar” Shane in 2000 when he fought against Oscar De La Hoya. After this first exciting fight between Vernon Forrest and Shane Mosley, it was organized a rematch in the same year but it was less spectacular. Watch the video!
