Review: 2009-11-14, one of the headlines of this boxing event was “Old school warriors, modern day heros”, and we are fully agreed that Pacquiao and Cotto are two warriors and heros, as they demonstrated in this fight. Manny Pacquiao (49-3-2), having won the IBO light welterweight title versus Ricky Hatton (another great fight of 2009), tried to win the 7th title in seven different weight classes. His opponent this time was Miguel Angel Cotto (34-1-0) that, for the second time, defended his WBO welterweight title. Review: 2009-05-09, Marco Huck (24-1-0) won the EBU (European) cruiserweight title against Jean Marc Monrose in 2008 and, in 2009, defended his title for the third time against Vitaliy Rusal (23-0-0), undefeated Ukrainian boxer who fought for the first time out of his homeland. In the fifth round, the referee Guido Cavalleri counted Rusal after a fierce action of Huck and then, after a few seconds, suspended the fight: impressive victory of Marco “Kapt’n” Huck. Review: 2009-08-15, Nonito Donaire (21-1-0) had won, in 2007, the IBF and IBO flyweight titles against Vic Darchinyan, and after having successfully defended three times, he wanted to win also the interim WBA World super flyweight title. His opponent was Rafael Concepcion (13-3-1), who had already won this title in 2008 against AJ Banal, but then he lost it facing Jorge Arce. “El Torito” Concepcion, in this fight, was more aggressive and threw more punches than the Philippine, but Donaire was much more accurate and won the match.
