Tomorrow, Friday, April 7 will be an important day for the young talent David Lemieux that will face the experienced and dangerous Marco Antonio Rubio. Canadian Lemieux has already fought against difficult opponents, such as Hector Camacho Jr. or Elvin Ayala (both have lost at first round by ko!), but “El Veneno” Rubio is much more dangerous as he is a boxer with heavy punches, 42 ko on 49 victories, and he lost just against the best: Kelly Pavlik, Zaurbek Baysangurov, Kassim Ouma, Kofi Jantuah and Saul Roman. Review: the first fight between Jorge Arce and Hussein Hussein was a real battle. Since 2001 “El Travieso” Arce was the holder of the WBC light flyweight title but this time he fought for the first time in the flyweight division (in fact the fight against Hussein was valid for the WBC Flyweight Title Eliminator). Instead, “Hussy” Hussein had always fought in the flyweight and super flyweight division, but the only time he had fought for a world title he lost (against Pongsaklek Wonjongkam in 2003). Both boxers had never lost, they were of the same age and had many victories for Ko, however, Cotto had more experience at international level and in this fight he defended his WBO light welterweight title for the fourth time, instead for Torres this was his first fight in the United States and for a world title. Review: the first fight between Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo has deservedly won the award for the fight of the year of 2005. Corrales came from the victory against Acelino Freitas (one of the best fights of 2004) in which he won the WBO lightweight title, instead Castillo held the WBC lightweight title, which he had won in 2004 (against Juan Lazcano) and who had successfully defended twice. Diego Corrales vs Jose Luis Castillo 1 was therefore a very important fight (valid for both WBC and WBO lightweight titles) and it was really spectacular, especially the tenth round when both fighters went to the canvas… Watch the video!

Review: 2011-04-01, good fight between Henry Lundy and Patrick Lopez for the vacant NABF lightweight title. Review: 2011-04-02, great start with both fighters went to the canvas, but the fight goes on and it becomes a real war: four stars for the spectacular fight between Hernan “Tyson” Marquez and Luis “El Nica” Concepcion; unfortunately the pace slows down a little bit between the sixth and ninth round, if not it could be a candidate for Fight of the Year 2011. Hernan Marquez entered the fight with a record of 29-2-0 while Luis Concepcion had a record of 22-1-0. Marquez vs Concepcion is valid for the WBA World flyweight title. Watch the video!
