Review: 2011-11-04, pleasant fight between Denis Lebedev and James Toney but it is not enough for our thre stars. Lebedev dominates “Lights Out” Toney winning by unanimous decision. Denis Lebedev (22-1-0) entered as the No.5 cruiserweight in the world while James Toney (73-6-3) entered as the No.16. Lebedev vs Toney was valid for the interim WBA World cruiserweight title. Review: 2007-07-07, Vic Darchinyan was still undefeated and was the reigning champion of the IBF and IBO flyweight titles while Nonito Donaire was at his first attempt for a world title. The fight starts with a good pace with both boxers throwing power punches and at the end of the fourth round Press scored a majority draw but the Filipino Donaire strikes “Raging Bull” Darchinyan with a perfect left hook during the fifth and the match is over! Donaire vs Darchinyan was awarded as the “Knockout of the Year” of 2007 (by The Ring magazine). Vic Darchinyan entered the fight with a record of 28-0-0 while “The Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire had a record of 17-1-0 (they also faced a second time on November 9, 2013: Donaire vs Darchinyan 2). Review: 2008-01-11, after his second defeat (against Kelly Pavlik, one of the fights of the year of 2007) and before the rematch against Arthur Abraham, Edison “Pantera” Miranda faced the American David Banks in the super middleweight division. After two tactical rounds, Miranda picks up the pace and knocks Banks out with a perfect right hand that sends David Banks outside of the ring! Miranda vs Banks was awarded as the “Knockout of the Year” (by The Ring magazine). Edison Miranda entered the fight with a record of 29-2-0 while David Banks had a record of 15-3-1. Watch the video!
Review: 2011-10-24, spectacular fight (very close to get 5 stars) between Pornsawan Porpramook (red gloves) and Akira Yaegashi (blue gloves). Both fighters don’t start very strong but they picks up the pace round by round and from the seventh the battle becomes a war! At this point of the fight the Japanese Yaegashi, younger than five years, has more energy but the Thai Pornsawan keeps going forward… one of the best boxing fights of 2011. Akira Yaegashi (14-2-0) entered as the No.6 minimumweight in the world while Pornsawan Porpramook (23-3-1) entered as the No.12. Review: 2011-10-29, nice fight with three knockdowns in the first and unique round of the rematch between Hernan Marquez and Luis Concepcion. The Panamian boxer, “El Nica” Concepcion, starts strong but at the first combination of Hernan “Tyson” Marquez he goes down and the fight ends shortly after (at the third knockdown). Hernan Marquez (31-2-0) entered as the No.4 flyweight in the world while Luis Concepcion (23-2-0) entered as the No.9. Marquez vs Concepcion 2 was valid for the WBA World flyweight title (in the first fight Marquez defeated Concepcion by TKO in the eleventh round, one of the best boxing fights of 2011). Review: 2011-10-28, pleasant and balanced fight between Brandon Gonzales and Ossie Duran but it is not enough for our three stars. Gonzales defeated Duran by split decision remaining undefeated.
