Review: Antonio Silva vs Fedor Emelianenko has been a good fight as everyone expected. Fedor have not fight for almost eight months (when he was defeated for the first time by Fabricio Werdum) and Strikeforce World Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament seemed the way to redeem himself and maybe find Werdum another time. But Fedor Emelianenko had to fight versus Antonio Bigfoot Silva, Brazilian fighter with a powerful physique and just two defeats, one with Pele and the other with Fabricio Werdum (unanimous decision). The first round between Fedor vs Silva is won by Emelianenko that seems to keep control of the fight, but in the second round Silva takes courage and brings to the ground Fedor that suffer the actions of the Brazilian throughout the round. The signs on the face of Fedor Emelianenko are obvious, so the doctor stopped the fight. Strikeforce World Heavyweight Grand Prix Tournament loses its main fighter and, as declared after the fight, this could have been the last cage fight of the great Fedor Emelianenko. Antonio Silva vs Fedor Emelianenko could enter in the history of MMA, a fight nice to see, very technical for the division of the two fighters. Watch the video!
Review:2011-01-29, Giorgio Petrosyan and Sudsakorn Sor. Klinmee are two of the strongest K-1 and Muay Tahi fighters of the last years, and their fight at Thai Boxe Mania was spectacular. The first round was won by Sudsakorn but from the second, Petrosyan begins to take the time of the thai fighter and the italian predominate especially with his boxing skills. Review: the first fight of the year who won our five stars is Muangthai Sor Boonyiam vs Amata Por Tongboran. Two young muay thai fighter that fight in the 101 pound division, Muangthai (blue shorts) is only 17 years old and has a record of 40 victories and 18 defeats, while Amata (red shorts) is 20 and has a similar record, 40 wins and 20 losses. After the first round Muangthai Sor Boonyiam seems to have the match in hand, but in the second round, the powerful punches of Amata put his opponent in serious trouble (in Europe it would certainly have stopped the fight), but between the second and third round Muangthai recovers and starts a real war! Review:2001-06-23, Manny Pacquiao vs Lehlohonolo Ledwaba was the first fight of Pacquiao in the USA and was certainly one of the best fight of 2001. Manny Pacquiao was 22 years old and had a record of 32 wins and 2 losses (with Torrecampo in 1996 and Singsurat in 1999) and that day against Ledwaba, he fought for the IBF super bantamweight title. Review: 2001-03-02, the fight between Pongsaklek Wonjongkam and Malcolm Tunacao is not the best fight of the year since it is too short, but the first round it is definitely the best round of boxing of 2001. On March 2, 2001, Pongsaklek Wonjongkam was not even 23 years old, but he had a record of 38 wins and 2 defeats, while Tunacao had only 12 fights, but with no loss. Wonjongkam versus Tunacao was valid for the WBC flyweight title. Watch the video!
Review: 2001-03-24, Oscar De La Hoya vs Arturo Gatti, for us, was the fight of the year of 2001. De La Hoya, nine months before, had lost against Shane Mosley and absolutely needed a win to move closer to a world title, Gatti, instead, did not suffer any loss in the two previous years. Oscar De La Hoya and Arturo Gatti were two boxers very technical and spectacular that could not give us an exciting fight. Watch the video!
Oktagon 2011, scheduled for March 12 in Milan (Italy), will be on of the best k-1 & muay thai events of the year as the main event will see Giorgio Petrosyan vs Alexandre Cosmo. Petrosyan, having recently fought against Sudsakorn Sor. Klinmee at Thai Boxing Mania, has decided to face another tough fighter: Alexandre Cosmo, Wako Pro World Champion and finalist in the King’s Cup 2010 in Bangkok (Thailand) where he was defeated by Yodsanklai Fairtex. But there will not be only the two-time k-1 world max champion, other top-level fighter will fight in Milan: Fabio Pinca vs Andrei Kulebin, Khalid Bourdiff vs Marcus Oberg, Dzabar Askerov vs Chris van Venrooij, and Xu Yan vs Adem Bozkurt. But always on 12 March we will see another world-class fight between Armen Petrosyan and Yoshihiro Sato!
