Review: 2009-05-02, the fight between Manny Pacquiao (48-3-2) and Ricky Hatton (45-1-0) lasted only 2 rounds, but it were six minutes very exciting. Hatton, after losing against Floyd Mayweather Jr (in 2007), trying to win the welterweight title, had returned in his light welterweight division winning the IBO‘s belt versus Juan Lazcano (in 2008). So Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton defended his title against Manny Pacquiao who tried to win a world title in the light welterweight category, even though he had just fought and won against Oscar De La Hoya at the welterweight limit. Pacquiao knocked down Hatton two times in the first round and knocked him out at the end of the second round, surely one of the best KO of 2009. (After this fight Hatton retired). Watch the video!

Review: 2009-05-29, undefeated Oleydong Sithsamerchai (30-0-0) defended for the third time his WBC minimumweight title, which had won in 2007 against Eagle Den Junlaphan. His opponent this time was Muhammad Rachman (62-7-5), very experienced Indonesian boxer who was almost 38 years old and was the (IBF) world champion of the minimumweight division until 2007, when he lost versus Florante Condes. 2009 best BOXING fight – Vic Darchinyan vs Jorge Arce – full fight Video
Review: 2009-02-07, the fight between Vic Darchinyan and Jorge Arce was one of the best boxing fights of 2009. Darchinyan (31-1-1) had just won the WBA and WBC super flyweight titles against Cristian Mijares and, during the previous fight (also in 2008) he had beat Dmitry Kirillov, winning the IBF belt. So Darchinyan was the king of the super flyweight category, but another warrior wanted to steal his titles: Jorge Arce (51-4-1), interim champion for the WBA. The bout was very exciting, but in the eleventh round, doctor stopped the fight for the cuts to Arce’s eyes, all three judges gave the victory to Darchinyan, 109-100. Watch the video!
2009 best BOXING fight – David Tua vs Shane Cameron – Video full fight
Review: 2009-10-03, the fight between David Tua and Shane Cameron was exciting for the impressive KO of the Samoan, who knocked down Cameron at the beginning of the second round. David Tua (49-3-1) could remember Mike Tyson for the amount of Ko that he had in his record and also for his style of fighting, but against stronger opponents he has never been convincing. Shane Cameron (23-1-0), however, was a good boxer and still today is at thirteenth place of the boxrec’s ranking (cruiserweight division); Tua vs Cameron was valid for the WBO Asia Pacific and WBO Oriental heavyweight title. 2009 best BOXING fight – Michael Katsidis vs Jesus Chavez – Video full fight
Review: 2009-04-04, the fight between Michael Katsidis and Jesus Chavez was one of the best fights of 2009. Katsidis (24-2-0) came from the victory over Angel Hugo Ramirez, but in 2008, he had also suffered his first two defeats, one against Joel Casamayor, and the second one versus Juan Diaz (two of the best fighting of 2008). Therefore, before a new bout for a world title, the Australian had to face Jesus Chavez (44-4-0), an opponent with a lot of experience and with 30 victories by knockout on 44. Katsidis defeated the Mexican Jesus Chavez by TKO, round 8. Watch the video!

Review: 2009-01-24, Antonio Margarito (37-5-0) had won, the previous year, the WBA World welterweight title against Miguel Angel Cotto (one of the best boxing fights of 2008) and he had to defend his title against Shane Mosley (45 -5-0), who was almost 38 years old and had just lost against Cotto in 2007, then, in theory, Margarito would win against “Sugar” Shane. But in front of 20.820 people (largest crowd ever to see an event at the Staples Center of Los Angeles) Shane Mosley dominated a really exciting fight versus Antonio Margarito, forcing the Mexican at his first knockout defeat. 2009 best BOXING fight – Yonnhy Perez vs Joseph Agbeko – Video full fight
Review: 2009-10-31, Joseph Agbeko (27-1-0) was the IBF champion in the bantamweight category since 2007, and he came from the important victory against Vic Darchinyan, therefore, the defense against Yonnhy Perez did not seem to be so difficult, also because the Colombian had never won a world title. But the fight was very balanced and in the tenth round, thanks to a headbutt of Perez, Agbeko went down and lost also the last two rounds; Agbeko vs Perez was one of the best fights of 2009.
