Review: 2011-09-17, after the first two rounds won by Tyson Fury, in the third Firtha almost knocks down him but Fury survives and in the next round sends to the canvas his opponent. Unfortunately the referee stops the fight in the fifth: pleasant fight but it is not enough for our three stars. Review: 2011-09-17, in the first round Saul “Canelo” Alvarez knocks down Gomez but from the second round the fight become very balanced. In fact at the beginning of the sixth Lederman scores a draw (47-47) but in the same round, during a nice and powerful combination of Alvarez, the referee stops the fight (probably too quickly). Saul Alvarez defeated Alfonso Gomez by TKO defending his WBC light middleweight title. Morales defeated Cano by TKO in the tenth round winning the vacant WBC light welterweight title (undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Victor Ortiz). Review: 2011-09-17, 2011-09-17, after three tactical rounds in the fourth Floyd Mayweather Jr and Victor Ortiz start the action…When Ortiz was forcing Mayweather against the ropes he also headbutts Floyd, Ortiz immediately apologizes but the referee deducted one point to him. But when the fight restarts and the two boxers were embracing Floyd Mayweather Jr strikes Victor Ortiz and knocks him out! At that moment Joe Cortez was not looking the two fighters and “Mayweather vs Ortiz” ends with the victory of “Pretty Boy” by KO winning also the WBC welterweight title. This is not the action that we like and this is not the “Sweet Science” of boxing: 2 stars. Victor Ortiz (29-2-2) entered as the No.3 welterweight in the world while Floyd Mayweather Jr (41-0-0) was not ranked before this fight (as he did not fight since May 5, 2010 against Shane Mosley). Review: 2010-07-10, the undefeated Juan Manuel Lopez (28-0-0) had just won the WBO featherweight title in his previous fight (against Steven Luevano) and at his first defense he faced the Filipino Bernabe Concepcion (28-3-1). In the first round Lopez knocks down Concepcion and tries to end the fight but in the last seconds of the round Bernabe surprises him and Lopez goes down! In the second “Juanma” Lopez knocks down Concepcion two times and the referee stops the fight. With four knockdowns in two rounds and the “Ring Magazine Round of the Year” (the first one) the fight Lopez vs Concepcion enters our rankings as one of the best boxing fights of 2010. Review: 2011-09-15, after a first tactical round, during the second Jhonny Gonzalez picks up the pace and strikes Rogers Mtagwa with accurate punches and the referee stops the fight. Gonzalez successfully defends his WBC featherweight title for the second time (he had won the belt against Hozumi Hasegawa). Jhonny Gonzalez (49-7-0) entered as the No.5 featherweight in the world while Rogers Mtagwa (27-14-2) entered as the No.59. Watch the video!
Review: 2010-11-27, with two fighters as Juan Manuel Marquez and Michael Katsidis the bout could only be one of the best boxing fights 2010. Marquez (51-5-1) had won the WBA super world and WBO lightweight titles in the first fight against Juan Diaz (Ring Magazine fight of the year 2009) and this time he had to face “The Great” Katsidis (27-2-0). The Australian warrior came from the important victory against Kevin Mitchell in UK, where he was the underdog before the fight. Michael Katsidis knocks down Marquez in the third round but then “Dinamita” recovers and won in the ninth round by TKO. Watch the video!
Review: 2011-09-10, nice knockout between Mateusz Masternak and Carl Davis but the fight was not very exciting: 2 stars. Mateusz Masternak (23-0-0) entered as the No.15 cruiserweight in the world while Carl Davis (15-3-0) entered as the No.60. Masternak vs Davis is on the undercard of Klitschko vs Adamek.
