The former world champion in three different weight classes Adrien Broner entered this fight with a pro boxing record of 30-2-0 (22 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.7 super lightweight in the world (currently the #1 in this division is Terence Crawford). ‘The Problem’ has already fought twice in 2015 beating John Molina Jr (=Broner vs Molina) but then he lost to Shawn Porter (=Broner vs Porter).
His opponent, the former Wba and Ibo champion Khabib Allakhverdiev, has a record of 19-1-0 (9 knockouts) but he is not ranked as he hasn’t fought since April 12, 2014 when he suffered his first professional defeat, against Jessie Vargas (=Vargas vs Allakhverdiev). Broner vs Allakhverdiev is valid for the vacant WBA World super lightweight title. Watch the video and rate this fight!

solid performance. all set up for him to showcase his ability again which he clearly has under the right circumstances. allakhverdiev bad style match up for him tonight he; be back and can beat a lot of good guys T 140 guys like rios alvorado aggressive fight allakhverdiev can outbox them as he’s a front foot counter puncher but not good enough for a real counter puncher like broner its just levels to each style
Harvey Dock Jr is the best reff in the buisness!
A well-groomed old school look; strong but almost invisible presence, good understanding of phsychological aspects, authority with softness. And look at him moving so smoothly in the ring. Makes me think of marvin gaye lol!
Classy style, Classy maners, Classy guy!
Ref was good.. but there was no reason to stop that fight.. 38 seconds to the decision, and the guy wasn’t wobbling.. he was still moving, and a few of broners last hits looked like they missed. It should of gone to decision and Broner would of won the decision.
I hope that is completely sarcastic Mario –
what a horrible stoppage. Mute point it was though.
Yes.
And as I said, he allowed to much elbow pushing by AB.
The stoppage wasn’t right in my opinion too. However, it was not point to continuing the fight because the final result could be a very controversial one in spite of the fact that Broner was slightly ahead. The unofficial record was a “Joke” because no less than 4 rounds, may be 5, were easily won by Khabib.
Regarding Broner he is still the same arrogant clown that he was when he has an undefeated record but this isn’t the situation anymore. Poor guy he has a short memory problem may be as a result of the punches received on his last fights.
You’re a idi*t if you think khabib won more than 2 rounds. AB did well.
You better be gentle in this forum since we are all mature people that aren’t use to deal with rude persons like you. If you still wants to comment here you are welcome but change your language and grow up.
On the other hand, watch the fight again and be impartial.
Please be polite, it is the first rule of this place. New commenters very welcome but don’t go on insulting people please
First time I see Broner, definitely no lack of confidence judging from the voodoo dance during the entrance. Good exchanges, nothing absolutely spectacular but Broner definitely dominated. Very stupid stoppage by the ref.
It would not have changed much had the fight not been stopped as the scores were as follow: Larry Hazzard Jr. 110-99, George Hill 109-100, Gary Merritt 107-102 all for Broner, but the Russian was in no trouble and deserved to finish.
Very weird declaration from Broner after the fight saying he is eyeing for a bout with Ashley Theophane (39-6-1, 11 KOs) instead of the stars in the division.
I agree with you because the referees should not stop fights a few seconds before the end if the boxer in question was still able to defend himself like in this case. Anyhow, it was evident that Broner was winning the fight but with an interesting “discrepancy” within the judges cards.
I didn’t heard his declaration about fighting Ashley, don’t know him at all, but it looks to me he still has no regained the confidence he had when he was undefeated.
If you have time watch Maidana-Broner a good action fight with some woodoo performance from the very “humble” Broner.
Look who’s writing novels now! ;)
Broner is so cocky that Cincinnati is probably the only city in the world in which he doesn’t get booed. Still, he is a very good technical defensive fighter. I’ve been bored with many of his fights over the past years though. He did not grab/clinch as much as he did against Porter, but the Mayweatherish shoulder roll always gives rise to many elbow/forearm push. He got warned a few times but not enough in my opinion.
Yes, he is gifted and probably works very hard in the gym (tremendous shape!) but he needs to work more IN the ring on fight night. As many analysts already pointed out, I agree that he his better at 140lbs.
I would love to see a unification fight between Broner and Crawford! The unbeaten “Hunter” is actually my best P4P fighter at the moment.
I would like to watch Crawford-Broner too. However, I don’t think it will happen soon because Broner hasn’t the guts to do it right away until at least he wins some more few fights to get enough confidence again to believe he could be the winner.
Worst that could happen to him now is loosing another fight.
I await that fight too. There is no shortage of talent between the two fighters, but only Crawford has the hunger and instinct to be dominant.
Note how Broner reacts when he realizes he has the slow, underpowered Allakhverdiev beaten. He goes into jokey play-mode: clowning, talking to the announcers, strutting. This is character revealed in the ring. He is a showman first and a boxer second.
And nothing wrong with that, I might add. I enjoy his fights and seeing his talent when he cares to reveal it. Crawford is all business, though, and should give The Problem the same problems that Porter and Maidana did.
I thought he won 3 rounds. I’m an idi*t. AB did really well indeed.
Adrien is Mayweather without the running, holding, and safety-first attitude. But both are definitely on PEDs. ha ha PEDs Mayweather exposed as a cheat and a phony, that’s why no one watched his last fight and there is no one standing in line to unretire. lol
