His opponent, Tatsuya Oiwa, has an official record of 17-5-0 (6 knockouts); he had also suffered his last defeat in December 2018, with Kotaro Shimano but then he has won over Kyohei Hayashi and Ryusei Ashizawa. K-1 is really for casuals. These rules does not make ANY sense. Its impossible to watch for whoever is familiar with any kind of indo-chinese kickboxing, from Muay Thai to Leithwei.
I respect of course the performance and courage of the fighters. But really this weird hybrid between boxing american kickboxing and stupidity (basically they cant clinch really, even boxing have more grappling game than this. They can’t hold and knee, referee will break them as soon as they are in any kind of clinch etc. ). These weird rules really takes away most of the artistry and know-how. Its really for casuals looking for just lots of movements that dont make sense really cause if the rules were not so stupid, these fighters would have so many more options to express themselves and confront the opponent.
Lets say how can you play music with just a few notes in your scale?
Anyway, I find simple boxing much more interesting, or pure muay thai, leithwei, kung fu, tae kwendo, even karate much more rich.
Very hard to watch k-1 without being amazed at the stupidity of these rules.
Incredible fight between two braves, impressive and quite fast kick boxers. The physical condition of both was amazing. It was a very balanced fight that could had go either way. However, the final verdict was correct and in my opinion the extra round wasn’t required since Kouzi slightly won the last 2 rounds of concerted fight.
