Great fight, however, the ref should not have stopped the fight !.

Absolutely stopped too soon…Great fight nonetheless…had it 107-101 Acosta…Soto faded after round 6…but it only takes on punch…left hook equalizer
Excellent fight between two powerful boxers but the decision of stopping the fight so abruptly diminished a bit the shine of watching Soto taking the title because Acosta, up to that point, was apparently the clear winner. If the referee let the fight continuing most likely Soto would had knocked out Acosta at no time since he was really hurt after receiving such a strong left hook. In the way the things evolved it is clear that many of us could have doubts about the final outcome of this fight but when I saw the replay from a different angle, after Soto connected his left hook, I strongly believe the referee was right because Acosta seems that he was not able to take additional power punches and mainly because was just the beginning of round 12.
Please do not forget that “iron chin” Soto did a great job against a much stronger boxer and never give up which in fact deserves all our recognition. I hope that the referee action really prevented additional damages to a young boxer with still good possibilities in this category.
