Very ugly fight….I can’t remember what fight it was. But I had seen DeGale for the first time a few yrs back & found myself rather impressed w/ his ability. Maybe it was Dirrell. Did they fight? Anyhow, I remember watching him vs Jack & thought to myself…”perhaps he can’t sustain top form” The fight was there to be had clearly. Tonight however, James just looks either troubled mentally/emotionally or just really faded. Bc He put on a Bernard Hopkins grapple fest. Which would’ve been effective had he punished Eubanks while frustrating him & halting the action. He did virtually zero in-fighting…Nor did he use a body attack. I was very surprised by his performance. This was one f the most intriguing match-ups of the 1st qtr. Good on Jr. to step up. But I didn’t see any real noticeable diff in his style tonight. For me it was more about what DeGale couldn’t do…did not do. Credit to him tho for rising to the occasion w/ the stakes being so high. Well done.
