Good fight, tough-tough kid, but with all that being said he is only 21yrs old and still needs to polish his skills. Can’t see him fighting like this against a Charlo or Hurd, would love to see him up against the likes of Julian Williams, Austin Trout or even a Kell Brook, they would be really good measuring sticks for him.
I agree but I don’t want to see him fight Trout or especially Kell Brook. Munguia blows up to Light Heavyweight after the weigh in and Brook is more a natural at that weight of 154. He’d get seriously hurt and Trout i’m just sick of him being the div whupping boy and losing to everyone. Williams, Lara or Castano would be good next ups for him.
I hear you, it’s just that a lot is being made out of this kid and to be honest with you, belt or belt he is still unproven and really needs to develop in some areas before throwing him into the wolves or even comparing him to Canelo. The Castano fight is not a bad one or even against a solid vet like Soro. I just want to see him in a fight with some solid fighters, nothing against Liam, he can’t prepare you for the top tier of that division.
This is a fight that deserves the 4 stars mainly because both boxers put heavy efforts and the best of themselves to get the victory. Munguia still needs to improve his defensive skills since he was connected several times by Smith who did a very good fight but was overcome by the resilience and power of Munguia. The fight was very close but the judge’s score cards were too much in favor of Munguia. In my opinion, it was no more than 2 rounds difference.
