  1. Beautiful fighting by Spence, a brutalist-technician who is a complete pleasure to watch. Can’t wait to see him in with the division’s A-list. They’d better be ready. Among them, I give the brilliant Crawford the best chance. I doubt Thurman or Porter, for all their mobility, will be up to the task. A stationary robot like Danny Garcia will be badly beaten up.

Just a word on the stoppage: that was a class act. Spence clearly held back in the last round when the proud journeyman Peterson was already humbled and close to injury. You won’t see that kind of nobility very often.

    • He wasn’t holding back in the last round but it’s hard to catch your opponent with clean shots when Peterson was in survival mode, did not want to engage whatsoever and was just looking to survive.

Spence is very good but against crawford he needs to be more careful when he attacks. Spence can at times be reckless when he’s coming forward. You don’t want Crawford to catch you with fast accurate counters that you don’t see coming.

    • I agree on all and I am really impressed by Spence. The only doubt is about Garcia. He has the kind of hook which could hurt Spence when he is not protecting himself. I saw already Bundu and Peterson hitting him clean but they have not enough power.

    • Spence is soooo overrated man … talk about koolaid. He is strong and tough but he flatfooted too in case you never noticed. Thurman beats him, porter loses but gives him a war and crawford gives him a boxing lesson and him and thurman is the real fight in this division. Watch.

Spence was arguably losing to kell brook and looked very sloppy before kells orbital bone demons came into play.

    • What a display of skills by the young champion! All his punches are textbook material and when they are thrown in combinations the rhythm is simply perfect. Not only is he a pleasure to watch but I really feel like he’s enjoying himself a lot in the ring! Looking foward for his next fight. It seemed like Peterson was staying in range looking for a big counter but it proved to be a very risky gamble. Peterson should now consider retirement. I’ve always enjoyed watching his fights.

Maybe Thurman could be a threat should he be able to land one of his powerful left or right hooks. But he hasn’t KOd anyone since 2013. Technically, Spence Jr is better, he boxes at a faster pace and is a southpaw who can use successfully both the right and the left hooks. And unlike Thurman, he seems to be able to carry his power against the top fighters of the division. I agree that the only man at 147lbs who could beat Spence Jr is Crawford. He needs one or two fights in the weightclass before taking on such a challenge, but it’ll come (probably in 2019-2020 though). By then, they will probably fight for the best p4p status.

@jasonsixx:disqus : Can’t say Spence Jr is overrated after he’s taken the belt from the champion in his own backyard by KO. Brook’s eye socket didn’t just break by iteself as far as I know. Two of the three judges had Spence Jr ahead on the scorecards before the tenth round and Brook was simply fading away. Spence Jr hurts his opponents with almost every powershot he throws, but I’ve never seen him wobbled or even moved by anything landing on his own chin. He can boxe for 12 rounds with always the same pace and strenght.

  2. Very good fight but with almost only one boxer working in the ring. Peterson, a sound and seasoned boxer, wasn’t allowed at all to execute his gaming plan since Spencer from the very beginning put an excellent pressure by adopting the proper fighting distance that better suits his gifted southpaw stance and controlling it by using an excellent jabbing work. In the mean time. Spencer was able to connect with accuracy several left power punches to the head and mainly the body that further deter any fighting plan that Peterson may has.
