The undefeated Wbc Hw champion Deontay Wilder entered this fight with a perfect boxing record of 38-0-0 (37 KOs=97%) and he is ranked as the No.3 heavyweight in the world (currently the #1 in this division is Anthony Joshua). In his last three bouts he has won over Artur Szpilka (=Wilder vs Szpilka), Chris Arreola (=Wilder vs Arreola) and Gerald Washington (=Wilder vs Washington).
His opponent, the former Wbc Hw champion Bermane Stiverne (who replaces Luis Ortiz), has an official record of 25-2-1 (21 KOs=84%) but he is not ranked as he hasn’t fought since November 14, 2015 when he defeated Derric Rossy; before this bout he had lost to Wilder in their first fight (=Stiverne vs Wilder I). Wilder vs Stiverne 2 is valid for the WBC World heavyweight title (Wilder’s fifth defense). Watch the video and rate this fight!

Wilder is faster but Joshua is phisically stronger. Probably the winner will be the one with the most solid chin….Joshua was knocked down by klitschko, what about Wilder? never down probably, but he has never faced boxers like klitschko or true top 5 heavyweights….
Wilders been down in the pros by harold sconiers, rocked bad by molina and knocked out cold in the amateurs by romanov. And haye and klitschko had a field day with him in sprring, thats why they breland and jay deas, only bring in nobodies to spar him to raise his confidence.
The way he delivers those shots are so brutal! Amazing that Wilder only weighs 100kg for being so tall.
One of the most brutal KO this year. Sadly, it happens in the context of an WWEish play.
Very true, Olivier.
It’s always fun to watch Hurricane Deontay leveling the countryside. Every time, after we gaze at the wreckage, the question is raised almost apologetically: nice, but…when does he face a real opponent? Enough trailer parks — how about a skyscraper?
Among those who haven’t got caught doping, I don’t think there’s much serious competition for him apart from Anthony Joshua. We could at least find out, though, right? There must be a half dozen heavyweights with more of a pulse than the 39-year old Stiverne, trudging into the ring for the first time in two years like a dreadlocked sumo.
If they can’t make the Joshua fight, which is just about the only important matchup in the division, I’d like Wilder to mow through Parker, Whyte, Pulev, Takam, Big Baby Miller, etc. He ought to petition the sanctioning authorities to let the disgraced Povetkin and Ortiz get some too.
Ugonoh haye breazeale ruiz spong briggs wach browne … theres many fights for him he just wants aj for the cashout
And thats without mentioning tons of other talents like rivas, webb, arias, mansour, yoka, hrgovic, dychko, fa, joyce, dubois, sirenko, zhilei, kuzmin, gashi, kabayel, ajagba. He will avoid them all and fight tepers, schwarzs, ustinovs, chagaevs, dimitrenkos, wallinns, granats, hammers, oquendos and heleniuses till he is 35 and retire. He makin 1.5-2mln guaranteed per fight not bad for a hw boxer who isnt aj or wlad.
Once again Arjay, I couldn’t agree more. The moment the fight was announced, we knew we would get something like this. Wilder’s record is just a overly magnified portrait of himself painted by a very delicate and careful magement team. Any thoery on how Wilder would dispose Joshua based on what we’ve seen so far from him is plain speculation. There’s no way Wilder would even try to throw such sunday punches against Joshua.
Wilder should fight Whyte. We would get a real estimation of his potential.
Yes, he really should bite at Whyte’s challenge. If he’s as devastating as he claims to be, there’s no risk, right? Considering that matchup, I think Whyte’s slowness and sloppiness give the edge to Wilder. But as you suggest, everything changes when there’s a live opponent across from you — Wilder could come apart.
“Wilder’s record is just a overly magnified portrait of himself painted by a very delicate and careful magement team” — great description.
Stiverne is an embarrassment.
Did people forget Stiverne was a b*m who ever only had a title because they felt bead for Arreolla.
A fat b*m at that.
MF step it to the ring with a b*m. You sissy MF really annoy me. Stiverne is no B*M nor is Arreola they are just not the best boxers in the world.
I just can’t see AJ handle this sort of power and cat like reflexes of D. Wilder, he’s way more athletic too with serious TNT!
I wonder how would AJ deal with the wild tactics of Wilder and how would Wilder deal with AJ’s size and power. Make the damn fight happen…
That fight and ortiz/wilder, parker/aj are my dream matchups
Wilder looked mad as hell in that ring
Exactly what did he (Wilder) do? Stiverne never put up a fight, a defense, or any resemblance of a competitor. He was out of shape, over weight, and unprepared to compete. Had not fought in 2 yrs, and only cared about the pay check! Look at him tonight, compared to the first fight. He really did not care if he won, or lost. Stiverne was no George Foreman!!! I’m not impressed at all!
How stinking corrupt is the wbc and that rat mauricioo? They were hoping molina wins vs breazeale, breazeale won and they just stated its not the final eliminator. Wtf? And they set up a meeting with luis ortiz and give him a pass after canceling the fight…. go on tell me they arent protecting their cash cow and im tinfoil hatting. Because you know, mauricio isnt known for previous dodgy stuff right?
If Stiverne was still a boxer it would have been a great fight. Instead it was just a show. :
Arreola and Stiverne are both tough skilled HW who eat mucho junk food and beer bellied. I mean they look like sh*t. That is why we hate on them. How can you go on TV with a spare tire? And cut the cholo jive
Short and sweet for a guy that did very well fighting at the right distance per his reach advantage and jabbing profusely with nice accuracy. I saw Deontay very skinny but still with a lot of power.
He’s built like a giant version of Tommy Hearns. Stiff jabs and crazy power.
Ahh poor baby did he annoy you? Stfu!!
Our quebecer Stiverne’s future seems uncertain… Wilder would get blown out by AJ. That fight seems uncertain to materialize soon since Haymon and Wilder want to milk the title.
great reffing to be honest.
bring an alien for deontay
here he’s done his job
stiverne completely unprepared, seemed to be a guy from the barbecue wtf ?
I’ll take a beating for the money honey! I’ve worked out and as fit as a buck rat. I’ll be the cheese in the trap; more like a slug on a lettuce that went down the sink with the c*ap. What a joke!!!! Wilder has improved and with arms that long should be able to fend of most of the big boys in the division. Its not all about muscle bulk, look at Hearns career, he stood up to the best of the best.
Who gave this more than a 1 star rating?
Stiverene was a b*m before they fought the first time. He was gifted a title (against Arreolla) and this time he came in for a payday. FAF!
At least Joshua and Parker are stepping up their competition.
As far as Wilder Vs Joshua.
If Joshua looses the extra muscle then I would bet on him BUT if he came in like his last fight then I would bet on Wilder. I thought Joshua had lost power by bulking up. He needs more lean mass to regain the speed and flexibility.
We have already seen that Joshua can and will get back up.
And we also have seen Wilder get hurt by non punchers.
So it would be in Wilder best intrest to box. To perfect a fast strong jab and dance around while doing it. (Tyson Fury – Klitchko)
Intriguing.
