Gus did what he needed to do. Keep distance with his reach and pick his shots with speed. In and out. It may not be amazing to watch a man jog around like he was doing but it was a great job circling back to reset distance off of the cage. I just wonder if he has the heart to beat JJ. I give him a better shot at DC. But I’m sure he is getting the winner. Texiera is a B level light heavyweight with nice power. Very stiff and slow though which is exactly what Gusts reach and speed showed us. Good chin but damn did he take a beating. Hopefully he gets a better head movement game bc he doesn’t want to take many more of these beatings. I would look for him to fight a mid tier on the rise guy who has more of a brawler style. That would help Glover out a lot. In all honesty Glover should consider retiring but I don’t believe he will. Losing to Gust is not a bad loss but the punishment was.
This is the fight fans wanted with rumble/gus and rumble/tex but rumble got too much power…. but we finally got a beautiful LHW 5round striking scrap!! Go gus! Next champion!
