The undefeated Wbc super-Flw champion Roman Gonzalez entered this fight with a perfect record of 46-0-0 (38 KOs=83%) and he is ranked as the No.1 super flyweight in the world. ‘Chocolatito’ fought twice last year winning over McWilliams Arroyo (=Gonzalez vs Arroyo) and Carlos Cuadras (4-stars fight, Cuadras vs Gonzalez).
His opponent, the former Wbc champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (also known as Wisaksil Wangek), has an official boxing record of 41-4-1 (38 KOs=93%) and he entered as the No.7 in the same weight class. He suffered his last loss when he faced Carlos Cuadras in 2014 (=Rungvisai vs Cuadras), since then he has won 14 consecutive bouts. Roman Gonzalez vs Wisaksil Wangek is valid for the WBC World super flyweight title (Gonzalez’s first defense); undercard of Gennady Golovkin vs Daniel Jacobs. Watch the video and rate this fight!

The fight really came down to that unfortunate knock down (for Gonzalez) in the first round. Gonzalez’s style shines the most when he’s the aggressor, pressing forward, but he didn’t get to do too much of that earlier in the fight.
I don’t want to see a rematch. Choco is simply not hurting anybody in this weight division, sadly… because he’s a tremendous fighter and a very brave warrior.
Fight of the year candidate. Chocolatito paid a heavy price in the victory over Cuadras, and Rungvisai reaped benefits from it. Rungvisai made the champ look a lot older than 29 years and certainly not like the P4P #1. To be sure, Roman has fought a lot more than most contemporary fighters do by his age; he is an old young man.
Hell of a thriller thanks to both brave fighters!
Agreed. Good observation.
Excellent fight that fully deserves 4 starts or more due to two very aggressive boxers who were going back and forth as a way of trying to keep the lead. Most likely the fight of the year up to now since it was plenty of action with two fighters in formidable physical and mental shape with no will to cede an inch of terrain to his adversary. The fight was very close and in my opinion the winner was “chocolatito” that in spite of fighting a southpaw with reach advantage it shows to be the better boxer. The Thai was very though and resilient with a formidable chin able to support the punching power of Gonzales’s right hand without faint at all. Too bad for “chocolatito” who, in addition to, was badly cut but accidentally. Rounds 2 and 4th were memorable. The Thai tittle first defense should be against to “chocolatito” for his redemption. This was much better fight than the main card.
Chocolatito was clearly the better technician with more angles, combinations and head/body movement; but holy cow that Rungvisai was a work horse that just would not quit!! Also, Chocolatito seemed to be very affected by the head butts. I’d hate to say it but Rungvisai just barely got the win.
Muy buena pelea
Worst decision I’ve seen in a long time, taking away from what could’ve been a legit FOTY candidate in my eyes.
Good fight I just wished chocolate would had thrown more punches
These guys on TV doing the commentaries talk like they know more than the judges…hey, losers, the Thai fighter clearly won!!!
I had it by 3 rounds to Rungvisai but I gave round two which was debatable so Rungvisai by two rounds was bang on the money. No idea what the outcry was about robbery. It was a good fight , correct decision and they will do it again. Actually watch the punches Rungvisai lands and then watch Gonzalez , no doubts that Rungvisai was throwing the cleaner more effective combinations and he was doing it for 3 minutes not in short bursts hence why he won the fight.

Tremendous stuff, the correct decision for me but Gonzalez cements his place as P4P king even in defeat on my list.
Rungvisai becomes a hero and Chocolatito should go back down and carry on being an absolute maverick fighter.
No losers from this one.
what kind of delusional c*ack were you smoking? geez already! how in the hell do you out punch your opponent by close to 150 punches and its the right decision to you? you most be related to the three blind mice they had as judges
Just relax, it was close.
I have it 114-112 for Chocolatito but the fight was very close in my opinion, No robbery in any case
