3 Star RatingReview by AllTheBestFights.com: 2016-12-30, nice and tough exchanges between Ronda Rousey and Amanda Nunes: it is close to get four stars (UFC Performance of the Night).

The black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and current Ufc women’s Bw champion Amanda Nunes entered this fight with a professional mma record of 13-4-0 (92% finishing rate) and she is ranked as the No.1 women’s bantamweight in the world. She suffered her last loss when she faced Cat Zingano in 2014 (=Zingano vs Nunes), since then she has fought four times beating Valentina Shevchenko (=Nunes vs Shevchenko) and Miesha Tate in 2016 (=Tate vs Nunes).
Her opponent, the black belt in judo and former Strikeforce and Ufc women’s Bw champion Ronda Rousey, has an official record of 12-1-0 (100% finishing rate) but she is not ranked as ‘Rowdy’ hasn’t fought since November 15, 2015 when she suffered her first and only loss against Holly Holm (=Rousey vs Holm). Before this bout, in 2015, Rousey had won over Bethe Correia (=Rousey vs Correia) and Cat Zingano (=Rousey vs Zingano). Nunes vs Rousey, main event of UFC 207, is valid for the Ufc women’s bantamweight title (Nunes’ first defense). Watch the video and rate this fight!

    • I watched it about 10 times just to see what happened. I counted at least 4 TD attempts by Ronda. She got shucked off pretty easily.

There may have been two more attempts in the first 10-11 seconds. They were more subtle though.

Ronda clearly was trying to get it to the floor and armbar Amanda. No she did NOT forget her roots. She was doing what she always does.

The main problems were that Amanda knows how to avoid the clinch and she is a much better striker as well.

Ronda is a judoka. She doesn’t have a shot like a wrestler (see TJ Dillashaw vs Lineker). She needs to clinch to get her opponent down. That means she has to get CLOSE. In order to get close, she has to navigate through those bombs Amanda was throwing.

Ronda was extending her arms out like she was punching in order to grab her to take Amanda down, but the Lioness was having none of that.

        • I just realized who I was posting with. Freaking Firas Zahabi! Wow! Such an honor! Dude you are hilarious, btw.

Hey man, why don’t you apply for UFC on Fox? Get paid for your deep MMA insights. They’re going to need somebody immediately for Dom because his face is all busted up from Cody.

Tell GSP and Rory I said, “What’s up?”

  1. Amanda knows how to connect punches, she got great foot work. The other women that Ronda fought were not on this level and just charged at her and had barely any standup skills. Ronda doesn’t have a chance against anybody even similar to Amanda…

  2. She
was too overwhelmed. Never recovered from the Holm loss. When she was
talking about how depressed she was after that fight, I knew it would be
a bad idea for her to get back in there again. Mentally, she just can’t
deal with a loss. All the people talking sh*t about her need to
remember, that division would never have been apart of the UFC had it
    not been for her.

    • Ronda just can’t fight standing up, and she wasn’t strong enough to get Nunes down…. true, she just can’t handle a loss.

  3. Ronda needed and deserved another loss. She was always impressive to watch, however, it was her attitude outside the ring in interviews, and reality shows, etc. that showed her true colors: not just the trash talk, but flipping off her opponents, showing no respect for and calling them b*tches, often refusing to touch gloves, and the like. It was great to watch her be destroyed sooo quickly, and having to crawl out of the octagon with her tail tucked between her legs. We all learned in kindergarten to be respectful and treat others as we would want to be treated…. somehow, Ronda missed that lesson. Where I come from, we call that karma….. :)

    • I cannot agree more with your comment. As you said she looks impressive when she was winning and believing she was invincible with no need to respect any of her adversaries. She was totally wrong because even if you are good you must show sportsmanship within and outside the ring which never happened with her. Hope she learned the lesson and next time, if she take the risk again, she shows a more humble attitude toward her future adversary as fully correspond to her actual fighting record and lower credentials.

      • Agreed. You have to possess a little class along with a good measure of respect and sportsmanship to earn respect for yourself. If you can’t do that, then you have to read unflattering comments like these. I would like to see her fight again (if she doesn’t commit suicide), but hopefully she’ll eat a big slice of humble pie first :) May this be a lesson to all future fighters….
