  1. Not a bad little showcase for the developing Lubin against a club fighter. Somewhat more interesting listening to the commentary by Errol Spence Jr. than watching Lubin dismantle the mediocre Sandoval.

    • I don’t know if it was because of my blood alcohol level, but I thought Sandoval wasn’t doing that bad? And I also thought the stoppage was a bit premature :)

          • Bring on that Joshua card. :-)

So Porter and Thurman…it’s going to be a fight between a hyperactive volume puncher and a boxer-puncher who’s stopped nearly all his opponents.

All you need for a quick and dirty catch-up is highlights from these: Porter-Broner and Porter-Brook, and Thurman-Chaves and Thurman-Quintana.

      • Heh, Matt, I’d have to drink as much tonight as I did on Saturday to properly remember how I saw the fight. ;-)

What I *think* I recall was Sandoval squared off in front of Lubin and swinging wide as the fundamentally sound Lubin evaded at range and picked him apart. Don’t quote me, haha.

  2. A short fight with a quite bit difference between boxing capabilities. Somehow balanced due to a reach advantage from one side and the southpaw stance from the other. However, the Lubin’s boxing techniques prevailed in front of a rival who was only defensively working. Sandoval was the perfect punching bag for this raising start.
