A very interesting fight because the abysmal differences of boxers styles. Valera fought with a very unusual and confusing style, just the usual for him, using frequently changes of stance. Bivol was consistently aggressive and just business oriented being able to handle very well the complicated boxing exposed by the Dominican. They have a very good round 8 exchanging very good and several punches where Valera realized that was better to fight in a more conventional way since Bivol was taking the lead whatsoever. Up to round 11 Valera was able to gain some terrain complicating the action of Bivol. however, the final round was almost for the russian. Two of the judges cards were too much sided in favor of bivol who certainly won the fight.
hmm i was actually thinking why 3 stars , it was 1 sided, valera throws wide telegraphed punches, never seemed to hit the other guy with any power, and i had it a total shut out, I never thought valera had any chance ot hurt the other guy, and i believe if he cared to bivol could of ended it at anytime after round 8. I think he is just not a chance taker, he attacks when he knows he hurt the guy. but overall wasnt really active. bivol youll see in meanful fights, valera will get exposed against any experienced fighter.
actually bivol had 6 fights and beat valera. don’t think its experience alone hat all beat valera as kastanov had almost 40 fights and valera beat him. truth is bivol is an excellent fighter. his mid range fighting is 5x his outside fighting is 4 stars. his inside game however needs work it is 2 stars now. he just blocks does not throw much on the inside. valera was able to take 2 rounds 9 and 10 because of that. so a good inside fighter like ward will be a very huge problem for bivol now. however his mid range fighting is superb sharp combinations and foot speed. valera is good and will be back again he is dangerous
secret cinema summed up Bivol, he need to throw his right more and mix in a few uppercuts. He also does no step back to make punching room. There is no doubt that he will improve overtime. Valera will never make a good boxer without going back to the basics- straight punching and many other skills need to be taught-voodo dancing does not cut it in the boxing ring.
