The undefeated Vyacheslav Shabranskyy entered this fight with a perfect boxing record of 14-0-0 (12 KOs=86%) and he is ranked as the No.22 light heavyweight in the world while his opponent, Yunieski Gonzalez, has a record of 16-1-0 (12 KOs=75%) and he entered as the No.39 in the same weight class. Shabranskyy has already fought three times in 2015 defeating Paul Parker in his last bout (=Shabranskyy vs Parker) while Gonzalez has fought twice beating Brad Austin and losing to Jean Pascal (but it was a close fight, Pascal vs Gonzalez). ‘Slava’ Shabranskyy vs Gonzalez is on the undercard of Bryant Jennings vs Luis Ortiz. Good fight.
Pretty equal fighters. Not sure if they can level up beyond being B level.
Gonzalez made a name for himself in his previous fight against Pascal by pressing the action constantly and landing some big shots. Pascal doesn’t throw a lot of punch per rounds so it made him look good. However, this time Slava was first most of the time and Gonzalez had no answer. I found both fighters are too reckless, throwing very wide punches. You are right that these two are a bit over rated… but this fight had some good moments. It’s just that their overall technique is so unpolished then it becomes more like a bar fight.
I gave 97-95 in there for Shabranskyy, giving two rounds even. I think the rounds were very close and we should use the ‘even round’ scoring more. Anyway, Gonzalez didn’t look as strong in this bout as he did against Jean Pascal, and it was costly to him.
A lot of action and a very entertaining fight with a very clear winner. Technically Vyacheslav is a much better boxer than Gonzalez being able during the whole fight to keep the proper distance that best suit his fighting style and controlling it with no problems. He has a very good jab that used profusely. I was surprised because a knock down didn’t occurred being both boxers powerful punchers. The poor Gonzalez was so frustrated that make the last round a street fight and was very close to be knock down. As usual a biased judge shows up and the other two cards no too unfair to Vyacheslav’s performance.
They tied a little too much I think, but still a solid 3 stars fight. I like Gonzalez since his near-miss against Pascal, I hope he will rebound. Merry Christmas tango!
Matt, Merry Christmas to you and your family too as well as to all our good friends in this forum including our host.
This fight was a classic example of a thinking fighter / coach up against a bar room, flat footed example. You could see from the body language and eye movement that Gonzales was totally outgunned and had no answer. This was exemplified in round ten when he continually slapped punches, these punches had as much chance of slowing Shabransky’s advance as fly swats. They were both hit with a couple of good shots and i was suprised that neither was knocked down, especially the crabbing flat footed advance of Gonzales. They both may have had an easy run to date but will find it difficult to advance quickly against the more complete fighters ahead of them in the rankings
Wow matty your black 100 percent. 97 95? Gonzales was outclassed and nearly taken out. @matty. Your out.
Maybe I’m a poor judge, but I’m white dude. Why would it matter? lol
