4 Star RatingReview by AllTheBestFights.com: 2015-12-11, great performance by both boxers with some wild exchanges in the second part of the fight: Nonito Donaire vs Cesar Juarez is close to get four stars was a war and after watching the bout a second time we think it is one of the best boxing fights of the year 2015 and it gets four stars!

The former world champion in five different weight classes Nonito Donaire entered this fight with a professional boxing record of 35-3-0 (23 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.4 super bantamweight in the world (currently the #1 in this division is Carl Frampton). He lost to Nicholas Walters in 2014 (=Donaire vs Walters) but he came back to win in 2015 beating William Prado (=Donaire vs Prado) and Anthony Settoul (=Donaire vs Settoul).
His opponent, Cesar Juarez, has an official record of 17-3-0 (13 KOs=76%) and he entered as the No.19 in the same weight class. He suffered his last defeat in 2013, against Hugo Partida, but then he has won four consecutive fights, the last one against Juan Carlos Sanchez Jr (=Sanchez Jr vs Juarez). Donaire vs Juarez is valid for the vacant WBO World super bantamweight title; undercard of Felix Verdejo vs Josenilson Dos Santos. Watch the video and rate this fight!

  1. Looked great from the highlights, I just hate TOP RANK. They are disrespecting the average boxing fan and/or have a very limited understanding of the internet

  2. Very exciting fight, plenty of action from the middle part up. The efforts placed by both boxers were commendable. No doubts that Nonito is technically a better boxer than the Mexican however was Cesar, a real warrior with a lot of heart, who made this fight so interesting and deserving the 4 starts qualification. Cesar raised the level of this fight because he was implacable with Nonito and himself also.
In my opinion Nonito’s career is almost over. He isn’t anymore the boxer he was when fought as an undefeated boxer because presently looks like that his confidence is still low. I guess he missed the train and hasn’t time enough for recovering.
I was pleasantly surprised to heard than Cesar has a master in law. He should be more captious when boxing to protect himself and his real future as a lawyer. As a boxer, he should improve his defensive techniques because he received several hard punches from Nonito.
The video quality was quite bad.

    • I too question the future of Donaire. Maybe he didn’t train well, therefore losing steam in the second part of the fight? I agree too, the video was bad, but better than no video at all ;)

  3. I had it 114-112 Donaire, I think the scorecards are too wide. Anyway, first part of the fight was a tad boring, apart from the 2 knockdowns in the 4th. Nice flooring of the gas pedal by Juarez in the second part, Donaire looked totally drained. Maybe it’s because of that ankle he twisted. Anyway, nice fight even though the action was not equal. 3 stars

    • Mat agree with your score. Cards were too much in favor of Nonito. But Juarez being a lawyer will sue the judges JaJaJa

    • Awesome fight! I had it 115-112 for Nonito.
I thought the first knockdown in the 4th was just a slip by Juarez, but the same goes for Donaire in the 10th (after watching the replay). You guys are right in questionning Donaire’s future, but as long as he brings such entertainment into the ring, I’m sure people will pay to see him fight.
About the ankle twist, you might be right also Matt, but it could also be that Donaire was already tired at that point. Fatigue can surely make your legs feel heavier and affect your balance. In fact, he probably slipped on his own sweat in that corner!
