The undefeated Eleider Alvarez entered this fight with a perfect record of 18-0-0 (10 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.5 light heavyweight in the world (currently the #1 in this division is Sergey Kovalev). He has already fought twice in 2015 beating Anatoliy Dudchenko and Isidro Ranoni Prieto (=Alvarez vs Prieto).
His opponent, the former Ibo super-Mw champion Isaac Chilemba, has an official record of 24-2-2 (10 knockouts) and he entered as the No.8 in the same weight class. He suffered his last loss in 2013 when he faced Tony Bellew in their rematch (=Bellew vs Chilemba 2), since then he has won four consecutive fights defeating Vasily Lepikhin in his last one (=Chilemba vs Lepikhin). Alvarez vs Chilemba is valid for the WBC Silver light heavyweight title; undercard of James DeGale vs Lucian Bute. Watch the video and rate this fight!

I scored it religiously and I had it 115-114 CHILEMBA with an even round in there and I thought I was kinda generous with our local fighter Alvarez. I can agree with the draw and the 115-113 scoring, but the 118-110 for Alvarez is a joke! Even my friend was pissed.
There was a lot on the line in that fight (which was a little bit boring) meaning it was a WBC eliminator to Adonis Chickenson’s belt. Only one judge was crooked though.
The fight I anticipated the most ended up being the most boring one. I watched the fight while chatting with Mattsnow and we agreed on a 115-114 decision for Chilemba. So yes, many rounds could have gone one way or the other, but I agree that 118-110 is foul ball (and it didn’t come from the local judge Richard DeCarufel who saw it 114-114).
It seems we are the only ones who watched it, only 4 people voted as I type lol. DeCarufel had the most honest scoring of the bunch.
Matt, I tried but the video doesn’t help. So I rely upon your and Olivier’s comments regarding the fight result and level of satisfaction looking at.
Happy to save you the time, it wasn’t the best match ever lol. Big one this week-end, Jacobs – Quillin. I have to admit I never saw either one fight. It’ll be a first :) @olivierveillette:disqus and @tango2042:disqus who do you think will win?
Matt, I don’t know much about these two boxers either. I saw once Quillin fighting and he is good. However, I’m inclined to think that Jacobs has better chances to win the fight because I read he has an exceptional record as amateur, is younger, and with much more pop on his punches than Quillin. It is going to be an exciting fight indeed.
Do you have Showtime or watch it on the net?
I watch most of the fights in the net and sometimes on TV when HBO put them for recording. What is Showtime? Please explain.
It’s a tv channel like HBO, they broadcast Quillin-Jacobs :D
I don’t have it. Is it worthy? How much do you pay for it? I’ll check with Bell since I’m using its system.
Could be worthy I guess, it must be in the ballpark of HBO’s subscription, but I don’t have it, I watch fights in streaming.
Unfortunately it will not be possible for me to watch it live! :(
But still, I can give you my prediction (hope I’ll do better than last week). I say Quillin will win, probably by KO. Jacobs will be the aggressor and might get the scores from the judges in the first rounds. He will stay on the outside and use his longer reach. Then eventually, Quillin, who likes to counterpunch, will catch Jacobs’ timing and he will start landing big right hands.
The only chance for Jacobs his to control the action at a good distance and avoid a toe-to-toe fight at all cost. His only defeat was against Pirog who probably has just a little less power than Quillin. But that’s my appreciation. Even though one might say is KO% is only 70%, every punch Quillin throws is filled with very mean intentions an looks very heavy.
What’s your prediction Matt?
Man, I’d like to make a prediction, but I never saw any of them. I read they’ll be making 1.5M$ both. Pity I’ll have to watch the fight without a friend to chat, but dad may come over.
Just chatting with your dad would be great. Old guys are wise guys too :-). Regards to him
I’ll sure tell him! He is like me, watching cycling in the summer and boxing all year round. He is absolutely awful with a computer though, he doesn’t even have one. I don’t think that chatting thing will happen, sorry :P
Well.. it seems we wouldn’t have had a very long chat! ;)
Difficult fight to evaluate since it was a poor quality video. Also the video and sound was not synchronized. I attempted to by desisted in the 3 round after reading your comments guys. It looks like boring and too long for my taste.
You didn’t miss much!
