My first time to watch a fight from this heavyweight from Mexico, most likely, the only one from this country in this category. In spite of being out of shape he is a fast boxer capable to combine his punches very well. I was surprised but he finished the fight with a tank full of gas. However, in this case he fought with punching bag instead a boxer. He should do it with a better level of competition
Ruiz is talented. The tragedy of this fight is what you say: they put him in with a stiff.
It looked like a boxer’s worst nightmare — the other guy won’t fight, but he’s able to cover up enough to take everything you’ve got. So you end up looking bad while out-landing him 10-to-1.
Incidentally, Ruiz has impressively dropped 30 lbs since last year. After this disappointing fight, I fear he may be heading back to McDonald’s.
Maybe he’ll take the salad? xD
