3 Star RatingReview by AllTheBestFights.com: 2015-09-26, nice and tough fight between Deontay Wilder and Johann Duhaupas: it gets three stars.

The undefeated Deontay Wilder entered this fight with a perfect boxing record of 34-0-0 (33 KOs=97%) and he is ranked as the No.4 heayweight in the world (currently the #1 in this division is Wladimir Klitschko). He has already fought twice in 2015 beating Bermane Stiverne (=Stiverne vs Wilder) and Eric Molina (=Wilder vs Molina).
His opponent, Johann Duhaupas, has an official record of 32-2-0 (20 knockouts) and he entered as the No.34 in the same weight class. He has also fought twice this year losing to Erkan Teper (=Teper vs Duhaupas) and winning over Manuel Charr (=Charr vs Duhaupas). Wilder vs Duhaupas is valid for the WBC World heavyweight title (Wilder’s second defense). Watch the video and rate this fight!

  1. Duhaupass made a name for himself, he came to fight. Always advancing, I like this style. The 3rd round was wild, but I don’t think Duhaupass was actually hurt even though the crowd was frenzied.

Wilder dominating from a distance. Nice strategy for him and he still was aggressive in very effective spots. As the fight went longer, Wilder got wilder. (I wanted to say that, I know I’m so funny :D)

Game Duhaupass didn’t protest the stoppage. Was that a tribal dancing from wilder lol. Nice fight to build his popularity for a clash. 3 stars and a half.

    • Fun fight, wasn’t it. The Frenchman has a jaw of iron. Too bad for him his punches don’t carry more, as he got to Wilder more cleanly and more often than anyone so far.

Face a mess, the American looks more vulnerable as he inches at his snail’s pace up the food chain. Easy to split his guard, goes straight back, loses balance, gets in trouble on the ropes. I had to laugh when the PBC cheerleaders said fighting this one-dimensional journeyman would be “a learning experience” for him — he’s had 34 fights!

He says he wants Klitschko late next year, but I’d pick the young Joshua to beat Wilder today.

      • Well I have to say Wilder looked a bit flawed, but to his credit, didn’t panic from an early swollen eye. I also feel like a PBC cheerleader: I think Wilder has yet to learn. But he is 29! Classes kinda over.

I don’t know the heavyweight division well enough to say who could be next, I’m afraid. As I can see from his BoxRec thing, he has not met Arreola, which could be his final popularity booster to clash with Klitschko.

I’ll have to check about Joshua, I frankly have no idea who he is. Do you have a fight to refer me to where he is competitive or dominating? I don’t know that much about the heavyweight division, Arjay :)

        • Hi Matt, check out the last two Joshua fights here on the site. Don’t blink — they’re quick! His stoppage of the very durable Kevin Johnson is noteworthy, and the destruction of Gary Cornish is vicious. Klitschko has picked the Olympic medalist Joshua as the future of the division and it isn’t hard to see why after only a handful of professional fights.

Yeah, I give Wilder credit, too. He showed some variety in punches this time with nice uppercuts, and he has incredible stamina to go with the power. Killer instinct, no doubt. He’s been protected for a long time and is long overdue for A-class opposition.

The fight against Povetkin will tell us a lot. The slick, technical 29-1 Russian is Wilder’s mandatory. Head over to boxrec and look at the records of his opponents compared to the easy pickings Deontay has feasted on. Note who the only loss is to!

      • I would love to see a fight between Wilder vs Joshua too! But the latter has to do more rounds before it happens. I think is overall technique is better than Fury’s. Joseph Parker is another very interesting heavyweight fighter I’ve discovered recently (thanks to ATBF!). Maybe 2016 will bring us some exciting fights in this HW division, finally!

        • Hi, Olivier. Agree about Joshua getting more rounds and yes, ATBF deserves our thanks. I must check out Joseph Parker, a new name for me.

    • Number # 4 precisely as per our host. But please watch again the fight and forget about the first two rounds.

    • Please watch the fight and the Bermane Stiverne fight. He has to meet the Klitschko or Joshua or Povetkin to cement his spot, but in no way is he a joke in my opinion.

  2. i dont think wilder have any chance to beat any of the klishkos…. ninguna oportunidad de wilder, de ganarle a ninguno de los klishkos

    • I don’t think it’s a fight he is willing to take anytime soon, too much promoter-manager conflicts :/ I do think though he has a chance of beating them but I respect your opinion

  3. Very though fight, with a rival extremely resilient but a learning experience for Wilder. The French was good and put a lot of pressure that sometimes caused trouble to Wilder. However, Deontay has better boxing skills than the French that finally permitted him to pass this difficult test. He was more accurate and his jab did the work. Anyhow, I have the feeling that Deontay is not yet fully prepared for a title fight.
Before, I would like to see him against Fury.

  4. I heard about Povetkin and saw his record, thanks to you. Is it certain Wilder’s next fight is against him? That would be something :) Nothing is ever certain in boxing, from matches predicted to matches outcome.

I’ll take a look at this Joshua pretty soon, thanks for the tip man. :)

  5. Done, I saw both the Joshua fights you suggested, very impressive :) I didn’t even know he had won Olympic Gold lol. Total destruction in both cases.

    • Looks a force to reckoned with, doesn’t he?

It’s a small sample to go on, but what do you think of his odds against Wilder? Duhaupas was able to trouble Deontay with the jab (nearly closing an eye), so I’m guessing if the hard-jabbing Joshua can handle the Wilder blitzkrieg, he’ll have at least as much success. Maybe after he’s faced Dillian Whyte we’ll have some idea of how he handles strong pressure.

      • I think this is a fight with TWO winners, and this is always indicative of a great fight. How about Joshua training his teeth on Duhaupass so we can see if he outclasses him? What do you think @arjaycee:disqus ?
