Vanes Martirosyan entered this fight with a professional record of 35-2-1 (21 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.9 super welterweight in the world (currently the #1 in this division is Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez) but he comes off the loss against Jermell Charlo (=Charlo vs Martirosyan).
His opponent, the former Ibf light-Mw champion Ishe Smith, has an official record of 27-7-0 (12 knockouts) and he entered as the No.10 in the same weight class. He lost to Erislandy Lara in 2014 (=Lara vs Smith) but he came back to win in 2015 beating Cecil McCalla (=Smith vs McCalla). Martirosyan vs Smith is on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Andre Berto. Watch the video and rate this fight!

A very nice fight between these two experienced boxers and a close one that it may helped in someway to fill the void left by the main fight. It was a nice interchange of punches with a lot of good jabs connected by both contenders. It was not running almost however only in the last round Vanes started to do it for his protection because he was sure he was the winner. However, in terms of running I have to admit he was not as good as Floys on the final fight. Nobody can beat the “master” .
Regarding knock downs is my opinion that weed’s call was wrong since Smith received a rabbit punch when he was unbalanced.
