  1. Very entertaining fight with a fast pace between two young warriors. In spite of fighting a guy with very good experience Diego shown that he is capable to handle the situation with expertise and fully dominated the match. Diego is really fast, with excellent reflexes and master moves that allowed him to overcame successfully the whole time aggression of Ruiz. Diego is shinning in this profession.

    • Agreed! Despite the lopsided score, this is a very competitive fight. Diego’s gifts and skill set simply allow him to separate from the much better-traveled Ruiz, but it’s never a given, as Ruiz presses hard. I like this famously-named prospect’s mobility, abundant uppercuts and smarts. Third time I’ve seen him, and he looks to be promising indeed.

  2. Hmm, though I agree that it was a good fight.
I think that Diego looked to have plateaued. Yes he was faster than his opponent. And he showed good foot work but his combinations and punch choice lacked.
    Will continue watching to see.

    • Please don’t forget that this fight was mainly learning experience for Diego because most likely his rival was the best opposition he had since he started as a professional. Therefore, he was very captious in order to avoid damaging his record too prematurely. So I believe that for this reason, like you said, lacked punches and combinations as we were expecting but in lieu of that he managed to connect several nice uppercuts. Hope in next fight he will do much better in this matter since his confidence to handle fights like this one is solid now.

    • Yes, he has looked better. As tango2042 says, it was against lesser competition.

If there is a question hanging over his future after a dozen fights, for me it’s power. He does sit down on some of his shots, and while they land flush, they don’t seem to carry a lot of authority. As you say, we’ll see.
