Shawn Porter entered this fight with a boxing record of 25-1-1 (16 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.7 welterweight in the world (currently the #1 in this division is Floyd Mayweather Jr). He suffered his only loss last year when he faced Kell Brook at his second defense of the Ibf Ww title (=Porter vs Brook); after this bout he came back to win beating Erick Bone (=Porter vs Bone).
His opponent, Adrien Broner, has an official record of 30-1-0 (22 knockouts) and he entered as the No.13 in the same weight class. The only man who stopped him in twelve rounds was Marcos Maidana in 2013 (=Broner vs Maidana); since then he has won three bouts defeating John Molina Jr in his last fight (=Broner vs Molina). ‘AB’ Broner vs Porter is the main event of the evening. Weeks entire career went to sh*t in this fight.
Yes he FINALLY deducted a point but he should have done it in 2nd or 3rd round. Atrocious.
I dint have it as close as the judges.
Just gave Broner 2 round plus 1 point of knock down.
I really dislike the UFC style coverage that PBC has going on.
I have to record so I can fast forward through all their crap.
Well done, Porter. Actually, I had picked Broner to have faster hands and sharper skills, but evidently did not count on his heart of a whipped dog. He can have little future at this weight, or possibly any weight involving championship-level fighting. Pitiful performance by ref Tony Weeks as well for allowing every kind of cheapness by Broner for eleven rounds.
Interesting fight with just one aggressor and the other guy full time holding. Week was very lazy to discount points for holding, he should start early doing that in order to improve the fight action as required. One of the judges (114-112) should be evicted because is useless. Bronner never recovery from the beating received from Maidana and his confidence went totally to the drain. He looks like now like a mediocre boxer which in fact is what he deserves because he was too arrogant. He hasn’t the abilities to emulate his master.
broner shouuld have been taken some points off for holding. he thought he was a MMA fight where anytime you are dominated you hold your opponent.
if i were a referee i would have allowed only 3 clinches per rounds 4th one would be penalized
