The undefeated 2012 Olympic super heavyweight gold medalist Anthony Joshua entered this fight with a perfect boxing record of 12-0-0 (12 KOs=100%) and he is ranked as the No.17 heavyweight in the world; he has already fought twice in 2015 beating Jason Gavern (=Joshua vs Gavern) and Raphael Zumbano Love (=Joshua vs Zumbano Love).
His opponent, Kevin Johnson, has a record of 29-6-1 (14 knockouts) but he is not ranked as he hasn’t fought since April 12, 2014 when he was defeated by Manuel Charr (=Charr vs Johnson). Before this bout he had also lost to Dereck Chisora (Chisora vs Johnson) and Christian Hammer (=Hammer vs Johnson). Yet another fight that should have never happened.
Johnson is just a mouth. Nothing more. Joshua shut it quick.
True. And the fact that the referee took the decision to let this fight go to the 2nd round was dangerous and useless. But that’s the way in the UK, isn’t? Anyway, it’s still very hard to gauge Joshua’s worth.
“The comparisons to Ali end there.” Haha, best line of the night.
Joshua should step up. Anyone ranked beneath the top 5 would be nuts to get in the ring with him. He might be ready for a run at the top right now, but why hurry?
Digest a few appetizers, move on to the main courses of Fury, Wilder and then Povetkin next year, and see if Wlad still is in the game in 2016.
para que salir en el segundo asalto?
all the blabla johnson did before the fight was for that performance lol, anyway i am glad joshua beat him
Nice and short. However, I was surprised that Joshua wasn’t able to finish the job early given the poor condition of Johnson. I guess he still needs some more exposure in the ring.
The second round wasn’t advisable.
