The 2008 Olympic middleweight gold medalist James DeGale entered this fight with a professional boxing record of 20-1-0 (14 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.3 super middleweight in the world (currently the #1 in this division is Carl Froch). He suffered his only defeat, via majority decision, in 2011 when he faced George Groves (=Groves vs DeGale), since then he has won ten consecutive bouts beating Marco Antonio Periban in his last fight (=DeGale vs Periban).
His opponent, Andre Dirrell, has an official record of 24-1-0 (16 knockouts) and he entered as the No.10 in the same weight class. He lost to Carl Froch in 2009 but since then he has collected six victories defeating Derek Edwards in his last bout (=Dirrell vs Edwards). DeGale vs Dirrell is valid for the vacant IBF World super middleweight title. Watch the video and rate this fight!

First of all…PBC… when a fight reaches the 12th round… and it is that close… I don’t want to see one of the fighter’s corner yelling at the crowd… All I want to see is the fight!! Actually, unless some crazy parachutist fan man tries to land on the ring, during the 3 minutes of a round, all I care about is the fight itself!!
Second, Alan Davis (who gave it 117-109)… what were you looking at?! Third, that was quite a good fight! :)
DeGale will never want a rematch, but I would love it.
Well said. One of the most enjoyable fights in months, and very close. Alan Davis is blind — I gave it to DeGale by a point. Credit to Dirrell for some life-saving adjustments, coming back from a disastrous start.
LOL
Good fight.
8-4 on my card. (5,8,9,10 to Dirrel)
DeGale needs to learn to throw a straight left after that right hook instead of a left hook.
I respect your judging, but only 4 rounds to Dirrell? on my card, from the fifth round on, Dirrel wins everything except the 11th. But a lot of rounds were close. Thanks for sharing your judging, it’s always fun to compare :)
I’ve had it a draw. (113-113) Nice fight, deGale seemed to think he was more in advance than he was. He really didn’t do much after the fourth.
I’m a bit surprised by the 3-stars rating for this one. To me it’s more like a 4 and a half stars! It’s probably one of the best fight so far this year in my opinion.
I don’t agree Olivier, the fight wasn’t all that great?? 3 stars is OK I think. :)
