Talk about walking trough people. He just bombed away. Great soldier!
Man, I can’t remember the last time I saw someone show as much heart as Murray did in this fight. GGG really is something else, though. I can’t see anyone at middleweight going 12 with this guy.
I think the only one in the middleweights that could create some problems to Golovkin is Peter Quillin and it could be a great fight!!
Miguel Cotto is not a real middleweight and if he doesn’t want to face Canelo Alvarez I think he will never fight against GGG!! ….but speaking about Canelo vs Golovkin, that would be a fantastic fight, both really powerful! And for me it’s easier that Golovkin loses some kilos to face Alvarez rather than he moves up to the super middleweights, it is not his natural weight and with Andre Ward or other big/tall super middleweights he could lose
Fight ended with the expected results. However, since Murray is a good boxer it took more time for GGG to finish him. The first 4 rounds were just GGG but Murray put a good fight after that but not enough since GGG never stopped his attack and combined good uppercuts with body punches aimed mainly to the liver.
Presently, GGG is very strong and in pretty good shape so will be very difficult for any other good fighter in this category to beat him in the near future.
When in range punch first. Clinch as much as the ref will allow and wrestle with him while in the clinch. Disrupt his rythm by punching first when he gets to you. Those two short steps where GGG feints the jab followed by a jab can be disrupted by throwing before he does, A looping right hook thrown while pivoting to your right would score big I think, Also pushing him and punching him right after would break his tempo. GGG is beatable. Murray looked spent after the 3rd and did good anyways. Also, GGG never leads with the right, he becomes predictable. GGG is beatable. lemieux can earn his respect and make him fight going moving backwards I believe.
Watching the fight I felt that GGG and his corner knew Murray couldn’t hurt him so they allowed the connects. What other way can they use to coax bigger fights?
Bernie – he did use lead rights.
Though I don’t recall them being powerful. Sometimes 2-4 quick jab like lead rights.
Agree on size.
He is a 160 fighter. No reason for him to go up (Ward want to come down? – OR move up to fight Kovalev – both fights would impress me)
Quillen is a lap b*tch for Haymon. Isn’t going to happen.
He won’t let him.
I really wish Andy Lee and his people told Quillen to F! off But alas they didnt and I feel Quillen will win that.
As far as Lemieux goes.
His people have already steered him away from a fight with GGG.
I do not see that happening this year. They will ride his current streak while they can. Though I like watching Lemieux and would like to see the fight.
Who is left in the MW division after that? Sturm?
Alvarez. Outclassed and outgunned.
I would rather see FM Jr Vs GGG than Pac. (Pac Vs FM Jr ship sailed years ago – it’s meaningless now – just thieving money from suckers)
Yes – everyone is beatable – eventually.
Especially if they don’t pick and choose the who and when.
why you and “SJ” have all this hatred toward Quillin? Did I miss something?
I would say the vast majority of boxing fans dislike Quillin at the moment. How can you excuse the ducking of Korobov? He also says GGG brings nothing to the table, but then he goes & fights guys like Rosado & Konecky. I don’t hate him as a fighter, I just hate the way he’s conducting himself.
Quillin, Stevenson & Santa Cruz are the 3 biggest jokes in boxing right now because they’re all ducking the main guy in their division & fighting nobodies instead.
Yeah I really hope Lee sparks Quillin. That would almost top Broner getting beat by Maidana.
I really have no idea who GGG is going to fight next in May. I’ve heard Lara wanted to fight him. That could be interesting to see how GGG deals with a slick southpaw, but ultimately I think Lara is too fragile for GGG. I really can’t think of another REALLY interesting challenge for GGG to take. Obviously there’s Canelo & Lemieux, but I don’t think Oscar is gonna want those fights to happen yet.
I would definitely love to see GGG against a hard-hitting fighter. David Lemieux would be an awesome matchup. He, like GGG, can change a fight with a single big punch, but I think May is a bit too early. In 2016 maybe!
Indeed, and it would be awesomely exciting for Quebecers to have Golovkin come fight Lemieux in Montreal :) Lemieux has to beat NDam first though.
Yes, that’s what I meant by “too early”, for Lemieux of course.
What a great fights. Both deserve huge respect!
Good fight, good stoppage by the ref. Courageous effort by Martin. 3 stars
