Review: 2014-11-15, good pace and spectacular finish: Matthew Macklin vs Jorge Heiland gets three stars. Matthew Macklin entered this fight with a pro boxing record of 31-5-0 (20 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.17 middleweight in the world, he suffered his last loss in 2013 when he faced the undefeated #1 Gennady Golovkin (=Golovkin vs Macklin); after that bout he won against Lamar Russ (=Macklin vs Russ) and Jose Yebes.
His opponent, Jorge Sebastian Heiland, has an official record of 24-4-2 (12 knockouts) and he entered as the No.20 in the same weight class, he lost once in 2013 as well, against Mateo Veron (via majority decision), but then he has won three consecutive bouts taking revenge on Veron in his last fight. Macklin vs Heiland is valid for the WBC International middleweight title (Heiland’s first defense). Watch the video and rate this fight!

Man ot looks like the end of the road for Macklin at this point unless he moves up to 168 because he looked completely spent after 8 rounds and that was a brutal KO.
Agreed- He was spent.
Hope he retires as I don’t think moving up in weight would help.
He isn’t a big guy slimming down.
