Review: 2013-11-23, very exciting fight thanks to an aggressive start, one knockdown and some wild exchanges in which both fighters exchanged shot for shot showing a solid chin and a big heart: Carl Froch vs George Groves is one of the best boxing fights of the year and it gets four stars (but we hope for a rematch in 2014). good fight. did feel froch was about to start turning the fight around, but i still feel it was too a early stoppage. Groves was still throwing back (4-5 seconds before) and the referee coming in to stop the fight was not the right decision or at an appropriate time. A rematch is a must. Would of been one of THE fights of the year!

Very good fight! Groves had Froch’s number and should have fought smarter in the ninth, where he only had to stick and move with his lead on the cards. Stoppage was correct. Five solid shots on the temple had Groves stumbling away blindly. We don’t need another boxer in a coma this month.
Great win by Carl after a dodgy start,referees are there to make decisions,one is to prevent fighters taking unnecessary punishment,watch replay those who thought it was a premature stoppage and you will see Groves is being hit about 12 times without reply and no one will know what damage could have been done if left to continue,spot on decision,credit to Groves fought a good fight until he ran out of steam.

I guess one could make an argument for the stoppage being slightly premature but the ref is close up to the boxers and can see things the TV viewer can’t. Groves didn’t land a single punch durng the last 30 seconds of the fight but was taking heavy shots so the benefit of the doubt must go to the referee making a correct decision.
froch got smashed for 9 rounds end of, groves knocked froch down on the back foot. froch had groves on the back foot just cos the ropes were there they stopped it, they were saving froch from being hurt not groves, matchroom boxing won and youre like eddie hearn

Did you watch the same match you biscuit? Carl was battered more than my fish n chips you plonker. Everyone in that stadium and all the judges thought it was a unfair stoppage. He wasn’t even wobbled that bad and Carl couldn’t even admit he got pasted for 8 rounds ‘ He gave the champion a good fight’. If a good fight means him getting bullied to the point that you see his frustration and sulking in the ring.. then a good fight indeed.

did you even watch the fight? Cobra got straight back up from the surprise knockdown he then walked through everything groves had to offer, CF eating numerous powerpunches to his nose and face but ultimately wore down GG and would have destroyed gassy groves if foster hadnt stepped in and saved him
i feel bad for froch , if he had been allowed to finish groves this win wouldnt be tainted, and we wouldnt be hearing all this nonsence about groves being robbed and carl doing something wrong apart from getting caught with some lethal punches like he always does

Once again boxing protects the house fighter. Not only did the ref stop the fight the second Groves got in trouble, but two of the three blind mice compounded the felony by having Froch only one point behind after being knocked down in the first and being outclassed over the first eight rounds. Boxing being boxing!

Early stoppage for sure but a fantastic fight. IMO the ref did a fantastic job up to the point of the stoppage…I liked how when there were fouls (and there WERE fouls…both fighters) he called time, stopped the action and gave a lecture. I don’t like it when the refs use 10-15 seconds of the round (with the clock running) to warn a fighter. But the stoppage came too quickly.
